http://www.procreate.com/

Metacreations sold Painter to Corel, which has a new branding line for their professional products, so it's coming out under the Procreate name now.

here are some new additions-

>watercolor
>liquid ink
>the tools
>enhanced Adobe Photoshop compatibility
>new continuous and variable zoom
>enhanced text capabilities
>enhanced color management features
>new perspective grids

Anyone have it/plan on getting it?

I hate this, I just bought Painter 6 and it's on it's way here and now they release painter 7.

Damn I hate when I spend too much money.

There's a couple of really neat features in V.7... Glad they're slowly doing something about the interface. I read somewhere in a review about the ability of hiding some of the submenus. Like that! continuous zoom sounds hot as well as the perspective grids and the ICM stuff.

Someone mentioned something about 100 quid off the price for registered wacom users... Is this a US only thing or are Europeans included in the deal for once? Anyone?

Danny: Previous owners of *any* registered version of Painter can obtain the latest Painter at the "upgrade price". Given UK distributers like Jungle.com, I was able to get Painter 6 for 164, as it would have been 399 simply because I had Painter 5.5 from the cover of PCFormat.

I think the deal is with Wacom, that the version of Painter you get with the Wacom can be used as validation for the upgrade price.

Can anyone confirm this?

Svanur: I paid for Painter 6 and then realised that Painter 7 was coming out soon.

Hi,

Here are a few websites with articles about Painter 7, the first one
being the best for getting an overview, but they're all worth reading
and each contains something the others don't (one of the links is a repeat of one posted earlier in this thread):
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/news/painter7/
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/news/story.asp?newsFeature=30207
http://www.creativepro.com/story/review/14039.html
http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/main_news.cfm?NewsID=3197 (I couldn't
connect to this one today, don't know why.)

This is a special promotion for registered Painter owners, versions 4,
5, 5.5, and 6:

If you're a registered owner of Painter 4, 5, 5.5, or 6 and didn't
receive an e-mail telling you about a limited time offer at $179 U.S.
for registered Painter owners, call Corel and ask them for a number so
you can take advantage of it (if you want to, of course).

NOTE: It's my understanding from talking with someone at Corel that the upgrade pricing (either $199 or the limited time offer at $179 U.S.) does not apply to Painter Classic as it did prior to the release of Painter 7.

I just received the latest Corel newsletter and though you might like to
have the URL. The newsletter is published once a month and covers
various Corel software apps. Probably helpful to keep this bookmarked if
you buy Painter or already own an earlier version.

If you want to stay up to date on what's going on with Corel Painter, there's a list of Painter gathering places (lists, forums, newsgroups) on the bottom half of this page with info to sign up:

Happy Painting!
