exhibition description

One show is on the figure in California art in the last century. This lineage goes back to a the contemporaries of California impressionists and the influence goes through Lorser Feitelson on into Harry Carmean and Vern Wilson and the Art Center "fine art" figurative fame.

The Fred Fixler style of illustration is also one of the shows. It will be interesting seeing the two totally separate but contemporary (of each other) approaches to the figure.

Also, a show of Dan Sayre Groesbeck. Probably never seen before and will never be seen again, but god is he the Man. He did all the murals in the Santa Barbara courthouse, if you are familiar with them.

Do not miss these shows if you can help it at all!

--------------

As to all the other stuff going on around here, just stay on topic. If an idiot posts something dumb, it is not required to point it out. The stupidity is plain for all to see, and needs no comment. Commenting just compounds the problem. I know it is tough to keep the mouth shut, especially if it concerns you personally, but the less said the better.

Less OT posts, less traffic overall, trolling does not work anymore, signal to noise ratio improves, trollers go elsewhere, things improve.

So please, post on topic and reply only on topic and in an unambiguously polite way.

Of course I am breaking my own suggestion by saying this, so that is the last you will hear out of me on the topic.

California's 7 hours away by plane for me Over here in Montreal there was Picasso's 'Erotic' exposition a few weeks ago, I didn't really bother to go though.. Shame on me? Hrmm.. There are also other expos I am unaware of, but I do not hang out in the art community here.. I even tried to look up for some figure drawing classes in my area, almost impossible since I don't know anyone who can plug me in on that info.

Anyway, the past 2 or 3 weeks, I've been so caught up in politics and administration, and devoting time/effort/money to others and getting thrown bricks at in return, my head hurts, and only a good dosage of Photoshop brushstrokes will cure me.

Hope Dhabih can make things better.
