Hi,

When I want to contract a rectangular selection in photoshop 6, it sometimes only contracts the top and bottom parts of the selection. The sides seem to be stuck to the grid, even though all snapping is turned off. Does anyone know how to fix this, or should I just select it manually?

thanks much,
-Jet

Hmm, I just tried it and it worked for me.
so...either -as you said 'sometimes' it does it- it only occurs occasionally which is unusual, maybe a corrupt file?
maybe some problem with PS6. Did you upgrade to 6.0.1? that fixed a lot of weird things that were going on.If you're on a Mac, I'd say toss your preferences just to be safe and restart and try again. Sorry to be so unhelpful... Don

By contracting a selection I meant going into the Select menu, Modify -> Contract.

The only time it happens is when the original selection is touching the edges of the image. If the rectangular selection isn't touching the borders, then the contraction works fine. I think it has something to do with snapping, I just can't see it.

I'll just scrap my settings. Thanks for your help
