I'm looking to subcribe to a mag that deals with photoshop painting. Is there anything out there like that? If so, where can i get it? |

I've quite enjoyed this mag, though it deals with many graphics art packages (some which are no longer available) and is actually cheaper to purchase on the news stand. I usually find it at Tower Records.
EFX Magazine
The nice thing is, they aren't just rehashing the same tire marketing review of the latest stuff. They actually talk about art, creating it, seeing it, etc.
Good Luck |

looks like a good mag, but the site dosent say much about the actual mag. I was looking for something a little more exclusive to PShop digital painting. |

Well one that I like is called Step by Step
Electronic Design. I generally pick it up at Barnes and Noble. They where changing their name this month and I have not seen the new issue yet.
Here is a link to the website:
SBS Digital Design
They cover Photoshop Painter Illustrator Freehand Flash After Effects QuarkXpress.
Really great step by step work throughs of how an artist created a piece of art. |

EFX is okay, but it rarely features much on the painterly/illustrative-type work which most turns up on this forum. Also it is largely cyclic in the artists featured, with the same names turning up again and again (often Giger-inspired photo-montage stuff). It is printed on good-quality stock, however, and interesting enough for the occasional read.
The UK's Computer Arts mag does feature plenty on Photoshop/Painter etc., but it is a pretty mixed bag and tries to cover far too much in each issue, i.e. 2D/3D and wildly differing levels of ability.
There used to be a (I think) subscription-only Painter magazine, can't recall it's name now, but as I don't use the app any more I don't know if it's still going.
