I was so surpurised to see your "understanding" of other people's thinking. And what you said made me very upset.
Did I say any thing bad about the forum? No, nor did I mean to.
What I wanted to express is very personal thing. I am a amateur who really like painting and really want to improve my skill. So I enjoy meeting professional artists here, but on the other hand, not many attention is paid to person like me so I cant get enough advice to improve. Of course I like this place, just because I like it and I am the kind of person who alwys indulge in doing certain kind of thing, I spend too much time reading articles here and didn't do as much paintings as before. Which is more important--have some fun here or spend more time practice by myself? These are the reasons why I want to leave this forum and said the time here is wasted. All of these are very personal thing and I posted "I'll quit" just to say good bye to my friends, to let others know what I think and care more about those who really need help.
Say, did good artists as Dhab and Enalya become so good just because they often went to some forum?
I dont want to just get attention from others and say "dont leave!".
I know clearly what I am doing. Of course, without me, nothing will change here; and without forum, I can improve in a better way.
This is all I want you to know.
I think you should first think if you can understand what other people said before you say those nasty thing! |

I just thought maybe you shouldn't make such a dramatic exit.. because if you're going to practice art alone and when you get better, you can still come back to the forum and show off your new artworks and make us jealous. I've made this very mistake on other forums: I announce my leave, then I come back after a week, and then announce my leave again after a month.. I've learnt my lesson the hard way, now people thinks I'm an attention whore. It sucks when people think you're an attention whore. |

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. Maybe I had a bad day, or something. Normally I keep my thoughts to myself if they are negative. Maybe your post was just the post which went one step too far.

I don't care who says anything bad about the forum. It's not "my" forum.

That is EXACTLY my point. It's a very personal thing. That means it's not meant for the public. You don't have to tell us if you leave or that you find the forum is a waste of precious time. So make a decision to yourself. Consider everything very good and then leave or stay. But no need to post it here. Especially not in the digital art discussion forum. This is a random musing. And if you had posted there, chances are that I never said a word.
And if you wanted to say "bye" to your friends. Ok, do so. Over mail or ICQ or whatever. Though I don't think that a forum-leave is a reason to leave your friends as well.
I would advise you though to stay here. And post art. Make it like the professionals. Come, Post art, critique art and leave. Don't read time wasting random musings (like this here ) Draw and post, draw and post, draw, draw , post post.
Sorry. Didn't want to touch your soul.
Keep it up |

As Ahcri said, there's no need to be melodramatic. If you dont want to see peoples digital art simply stop coming here.

Improvement comes through practice, and lots of it. The artists you mention don't create great pics because they frequent forums, they create great pics because they've painted dozens of them and have improved slowly over time.
You'll never become a good artist by getting critiques here (or any forum). The forum is good at giving people inspiration though - a reason to draw lots of images, and thats how you'll become good. And when you're already good, thats when critiques can help you become great.

Hehe, Sumaleth has summed it up. It is so cool though when people say good things about your art! Screw the crits!
[whisper]Fine, I am the new attention whore now, great![/whisper] |

Yeah, I think that's very important. The appreciation makes a lot of the people here to stick to art. (wrong grammar? heh) |
