I received this email today, I thought I'd share it with all of you.
quote:
What's new and exciting in Painter 7? John Derry and Mark Zimmer, original
creators of Painter, were involved in developing this release and they
agree that the realism is incredible:
"With Painter 7, we've continued our relentless drive to improve
natural-media fidelity. Painter 7 goes beyond brush emulation to introduce
sophisticated modeling of applied media. As you'll see in the new Watercolor
technology and Liquid ink layer, this powerful combination results in a new
level of realism. It's the best Painter yet!"
-- John Derry
"There's something in Painter 7 for every user. New Watercolor and Liquid
ink technologies redefine the real-time simulation of traditional media on
computers. You won't believe your eyes!"
-- Mark Zimmer
Want to know more? New Watercolor technology is definitely a highlight in
this release. Not only do paints drip and blend together as you apply them,
but you control the way paints diffuse with Wetness, Dry Rates, Diffusion
and Wind Direction features. The realistic new Liquid ink layer mimics the
viscosity and surface tension of a thick, gluey medium like ink or paint.
There's so much to discover in the new Painter 7. Look for new Perspective
Grids that make painting three-dimensional scenes easier, enhanced Color
Management and improved Adobe Photoshop compatibility.
This release is an exciting one for us. Painter has a whole new look and is
now part of a new line of software called procreate. procreate products are
designed with creative professionals in mind. They extend your creative
possibilities and let you bring your most ambitious ideas to life.

I think that things seem pretty optimistic considering that Corel is now the company developing it. |

Woa! Just went to the Corel site -- no trace of Corel Painter - guess they sold it back to the creators???? Now at procreate.com???
Now I gotta find out what happened to my preorder????
[edit]
OK - clicked through the press releases at Corel. Now I get it. Procreate is some kind of subsidiary or spin-off of Corel for their "extra creative professional products".
No worries.

Hi,
More (published) news about Painter 7, this time with a brief
description of what it will include:
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/news/story.asp?newsFeature=30207
Go take a look, this one lists more new things than the message we got from Corel did.
Can't wait to see Painter 7 on my computer!

I just talked to one of the Beta-testers last night and he said the new Watercolor/Liquid technology will just blow me away. Also there is no more wet/dry layer and better compatability with Photoshop.
Honestly, I can't wait. I have a project comming up that Painter 7 will make a breeze,
that is unless I screw it up, after all they still havent added the " make great picture" button yet!
