Well, I just picked up a Wacom Intuos 4x5 for kicks and giggles(really don't have a huge need for it.) I'm mainly using it for texturing, but also some skinning.
But, as a tip, I found mine brand new at Ubid.com for a $100 dollars. This was an auction, but was being sold by Ubid and not some Ebay type user. Works great, but they haven't had any since I picked mine up, I'd keep checking though. It's somewhat funny, the starting bid for the Graphire at their site is $99, go figure.
I don't think I can really comment on which you should buy, I would've bought a bigger size if it weren't for the extreme jump in prices. |

there are a ton of threads on this exact topic you really should see if your question has already been answered before asking it...
However I am feeling generouse so I will give some advice, buy a 6x8 intuos minimum. I have one and love it, the graphire seems way to small and i like the pressure sensativity that the intuos have. If you are worried about price then just get a refurbished one for like 200.00 or so. I bought mine through harmonycomputers.com refurbished and it came packaged like new with everything on it, has a warenty and it works fine. |

actually the wacom site never seems to have the USB versions of the refurbished intuos... if you check the list of resellers on their site, you can find a bunch of refurbished intuos at various sizes, and if you were willing to pay $180 for a 4x5, how bout $200 for a refurbished 6x8? that's what i'm getting next month when i have the cash on-hand... btw, the $200 is actually less than wacom's price for the refurbished models...
cheers,

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a Wacom Intous
tablet, does a 4x5 work fine when working?
or should I go with a 6x8? After all a 4x5
costs about $180 and a 6x8 $300, so it's
a $120 difference!
Any help appreciated!
And then I just wanna say my opinion on
digital art. I think many people goes to
some website and sees goodlooking digi-art
and thinks, hey lets load up photoshop and
do the same! ... Don't! do that.. start sketching instead and learn the anotomy and
then learn coloring and so on..
Like I said, that's my opinion!
One more thing, cause this is my first post
in like months or maybe a year, Thanks to
all the great artists that does all these
tutorials which helps enormously! And thanks
to people who does inspirering pictures!
keep up with the good work!! |

Thanks for all your help, I think I'll go with a refurbished 6x8 Intous if I can find any which ships to Sweden.
and r4bid, sorry about starting a new topic, I've checked around but I didn't find any which answered my questions, but perhaps I didn't look enough!
Thanks! |

hehe, this topic concerns with my atm-problem.
buying a graphire, buying intuos 4x5 or 6x8?
the freak inside of me says: buy a 6x8, fuck the money.
the more rational part sys: buy a graphire, it should be enough for what you want it to. but then the freak starts arguing: i cn't work properly at that stamp-like size etc...
refurbished tablets should be the very best solution, thx for the link.
i hope, they ship to germany as well... |
