Hey all
I was working on little sketch today while taking a little break from that dinosaur thing I've been working on for the past couple of days. Anyway, I liked one of the sketches so much that I'd thought it'd be cool to make it into an animation.
I already have all of the frames drawn and I know what order I want them in, but I don't know how to make them into a single animated gif with Painter 6. Can anyone help?
Seriously, THANK YOU if you can help me in any way. |

Ok, make sure the frames are all numbered files like dino01.bmp dino02.... etc..
In painter, go to file open and then check the box that says open numbered files, it will tell you to choose first file, click on the first file and click open, then click on the last file and click open. Now it will ask you to save the frame stack, so type a name in and save. The last dialogue asks how many layers of onion skin you want and bit depth, probably just use the default. When you go to save the animation there is the option to save it as a gif. There's a bunch of options that you can play around with in there. |

Oh wait, here's another question.
Is there any way that I can compress the file after I've saved it as a Gif animation? The file is like 900k and I want to resize it to about 200. |

EXO13:
Yeah, to make an animated GIF in Painter, simply make a movie and put your art in each frame, then export the whole thing as an animated GIF. I use SmartSaver from www.ulead.com to optimize both JPG and GIF, yes, animated gif too. If I have said this before, I will say it again, Smartsaver RULES!!!! This is one of my secret weapons for getting tiny files for use on the web. At only $30, you cannot beat the price. (I think it is still $30).
