I don't know, could be a touch of what they usually call AD/HD today, Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder. I've got it, and at least one of my sons has it too, not too bad though. We're not medicating him for it and we never will, though I was when I was his age. <shrug>

Yeah...that AD/HD rocks...if that phrase would've existed when I was a kid I would for sure have gotten the diagnosis...
I don't know if I have it...but I RARELY get things done...always get new ideas and jump right at them...
With proper training (and a "normal" childhood) a child with ad/hd will grow up "normal" and fully functional in todays society...
[edit] ok, maybe not rocks...but I find it rather neat

Well that happens to me, I just try to work on them all at the same time, say an hour or two on one then jump to the other one.
I find that I get frustrated and bored if I don't do this.
Could very well be AD/HD but I was never diagnosed with that. |

This is quite an interesting thing I think. I've been diagnosed with adhd, I self medicate with grass, which i believe to be one of the best medicines for the mess.
I think that adhd is really a blessing to have. I equate it with energy. Hyperactive, obnoxious, whatever they say, I think we just have way too much energy.
It's this drive that makes you abandon projects that loose the initial burst that started them, always wanting to do more. Look at Leo davinci. He has countless projects that he never finished. He would be pumped full of ridilen these day's. It's quite the trick to stop, focus, and channel the energy how you know it should be instead of letting it run wild. Again, the grass I've found to be a wonderful aid in this.
The way our society is structured, it doesn't accomodate people with this. The public schools (in america at least) are a perfect example. They say it's a learning disability, but really we just can't learn at the communal pace. I for one learn so much better on my own pace. Which is why 3d/computer job is so perfect for us.
So basically, to answer your question, yeah, i start mad projects to leave them once they start to slow down. Sometimes I'll make myself finish them, sometimes i'll let them die. It's a decision you'll have to make. Just as long as you get something done. Ultimatley though, it's all up to you, you need to know what you want, and be able to control yourself enough to do it.
ps, this also explains why my spelling is sooo horrible ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I was very ambitious and was overly motivated with computer game art and programming between the ages of 20 and 25, working on tons of projects I never finished. I finally burnt out, and life has been rather bland since. Now I TRY to stay motivated... and, it's not working all that well. |

The reason I ask is because I am constantly in the middle of like four or five illustrations. It seems like everytime I get halfway through one I get the idea for yet another and start on it immediately.
Just wondering if anyone else does this, and if so has anyone found a way to beat it!?
So far the only way I can finish something is to just tell myeslf, nothing else gets done until it's finished lol.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone,
have a nice day. |
