I am kinda new at this. Where can I go to get a huge print out of something I do in Photoshop. I mean some thing that is the size of a large painting. Also I remember reading something a while back about printing on special paper or canvas-like paper so it actually looks like a real painting. Any body know anything about this or where to get this kind of thing done? Thanks |

You can probably go to kinko's. I've seen big honking printers there.
Just keep in mind, you'll need a really, really high-rez picture, or it's just gonna look blurry when they print it out.
Don't know much about the paper you can use. I'd ask the dudes at Kinko's. |

Kinko's? Come on people. I don't even trust my photocopies to Kinkos.
dman, try doing a search for service bureaus on the web or in your local area who specialize in Iris prints. That's a big fancy printer that costs way too much money but makes fantastic art prints from digital files. You can even get them on archival paper, etc etc. It'll cost ya though. Good luck.

If you want gallery quality prints, you want to look for something called "Giclee" (gee-clay) or "Iris" printing.
Anything you get at Kinko's might only last a couple years before it starts to fade, and you won't be able to sell it as anything more than a poster.
A 24x36" Iris will cost you between 100-150$ US, depending on what kind of substrate you use, and whether you do any UV protection or lamination.
Stick it behind UV-proof glass, and they'll be able to show it a museum long after you're dead and have a movement named after you. |

Where are you from? 'Cause if you're from anywhere near here (what are the odds? One in a million?), I could recommend somewhere MUCH better than Kinko's. They are, IMHO, WAY overpriced, and at the one near me, really snotty, too. They've recently started tacking on a $15 rendering fee to EVERY digital print, so it starts adding up if you have a few. They also have really slow computers in their self-service area, and you pay by time, so you can end up paying almost as much to print your own.
If you have a Copies Plus near you, they'll do it, and there's a place in Vancouver called TR Trades that does all sorts of neat printing stuff. Do shop around, though, and remember: friends don't let friends go to Kinko's. |

I'm on the East Coast. I was considering Kinkos too, but the're a ripp-off and I would be happy to go elsewhere. |
