Anybody ever get a USB wacom to work with a laptop? I tried plugging my tablet into a Dell laptop I have access to, but it wouldn't work -- no power for some reason. I was able to get a serial-based tablet to work, but its power plug kind of defeats the portability.

Hi,
I use a 4x6' graphire USB tablet and have no problems, I've also used a intuos 6 x 8 (not sure of the exact sizes) and that also worked.

Try checking Dell for updated drivers and bios updates.

What OS is on the Dell? Win 2000 wont power the wacom until the human interface drivers are installed. If you somehow canceled their installation that will stop it from working even if the wacom drivers are in...

I have no idea what the USB power consumption of a tablet is, but assuming it only draws power from the computer... here is a comparison (sort of)

I have a micron transport lt (laptop), with both battries I get 3-5 hours, depending on disk usage and cpu usage, this with a normal mouse.

If I use the microsoft intellieye USB (laser) mouse, my battery length decreases to 1-2 hour.

Yep. I sometimes use my Wacom with a Hewlett Packard Pavilion some-serial-number-or-other laptop...It works pretty well, in fact.

The only problem is that the LCD screen distorts colours, and it's really hard to see well enough to get into the nitty-gritty details.
