Okay, some incredibly vague hints.

Anatomy and perspective are very important.

Value (relative light and dark) and edge control are what it's all about.

Work monochronomatically at first, color can be a complication you don't need for a while. (and if you can get the values right, color can be anything). Work in black and white or something that resembles a nice sepia.

Contrast and shadows are very important and friendly things.

Light reveals color, shadow reveals form.

Cast shadows have hard edges, form shadows have soft transitions.

Understand the complexity of an object but treat it simply; this means simple shapes, silhouettes and forms. Start with them first; learn how to draw and light cubes, spheres, cones and conical sections... they'll be the basis for all the cool stuff you'll blow us away with later.

There is very little difference between drawing and painting.

The better you get, the farther you see the road before you extends.

If you don't have fun producing the work, we won't have fun looking at it (even the heavy stuff)

Balance, weight, construction... evil and seduction, plant feet on the ground, forms and shapes that work together...

The more you know about the world of art, the better your art will be.

Ask all of the questions that you need to.

Good luck.

Case, smalls...
Come on, please don't post like that...
ESPECIALLY to a new guy...
Please?

Here's a good test - before you post, imagine yourself in an auditorium with a couple hundred people all gathered to discuss digital art - would you take the spotlight, stand up and read your post with everyone listening and watching YOU? If yes, go ahead and post. If no, don't. Simple right?
