I'm having a bitch of a time drawing tree's from life. I live out in the country, and well, there's a hell of a lot of tree's, not much else. So I figured, why not draw em? With paint you can use brush strokes to simulate leaves and the light bouncing off them. How might you go about this with pencil? Any tips? I tried scumbling, but its not working very well for me. Otherwise it seems like to much thought process to use negative and positive spacing to give form to the tree. Maybe I'm not simplifying enough? Ah, I duno.

aquamire: There's a book called "Drawing Landscapes in Pencil" that I found quite useful. There's a really neat section about drawing trees in pencil.

If you can perhaps hold on for a day or two, I'll scan in a few pages and put them up here if you want.

Hey Ceenda! That'd be great if you have the time! I might go searching for that book the next time I'm in the mall area. Thanks for the info.

Gotta hand a thesis in on Monday. I _will_ scan in those pages soon though. I'll upload them to a server and get back to you. Sorry about the delay.

Hi. I've only had time to do a couple of pages, though I'll try and do more soon.
