Yep, it works in IE, but the menus are all messed up in Netscape 4.76. I've seen the same thing happen on other peoples' web pages (Rinaldo's, for instance.) I'm assuming you used some Microsoft web development program for creating the page? ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

DAMMIT.
Thanks for trying it for me. I made everything in dreamweaver, and made sure everything converts to layers, and I got 2 netscape bug fixes added, but to no avail. I'll just have to make another version alongside(i've been trying to fix that netscape problem for too long now)
Thanks. |

Thanks!
woah, that is WIERD. I have purchased a .com server of a different domain. For this I am going to use ASP programming and learn some html for netscape, with autodetect browser javascript(if i learn it in time). The .co.uk domain is so complicated in its pages, there are about 10 layers, and looking at that screen cap it seems unrecoverable for netscape. Bah, I'll post the new version when its finished.

Thanks, now I understand a lot more of how my site looks in netscape, eurgh!. Thanks for helping me out. I will make a tables version then, just for netscape. The thing is that Dreamweaver's manual says nothing of incompatability of layers with netscape. I'll try and sort this out.
Your site:
I thought your site looks nice and clean, I think the colour scheme is good considering the subject matter. although I would maybe add some rollovers at the top options for a bit more interactivity.

Gavin: If you make a tables version, it'll work in both Netscape and IE. Then you don't need to have two versions online, and you don't need to learn all that browser auto-detect stuff. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I have dreamweaver too, and i took your source code and viewed it... i found some broken div tags... about half of the ones lines 80 through the end. and the /html tag was invalid? i cant explain this (i didnt spend much time with it, but id tell you to use tables. not all versions of browsers are compatable with layers. you should set a cell background as your G thing, and your buttons in the cells. Converting will not work becuase you currently have overlaps. here is a screenshot of your page about halfway loaded... before it ended up looking like hew's screenshot http://www.geocities.com/wvmi/screenshot.jpg
If you dont want to make everything into tables, try just putting just one table inside your button layer and make a single column with one cell per button. this may keep your buttons from going astray. hope this helps =)
also guys can you check out my site? this is a temporary upload urlhttp://www.geocities.com/wvmi/imaging/mr.html
nothign works... it is just a template. what do you think? tips? |
