What size monitors do you guys have? What would you say would be the minimum size screen to be considered decent for doing digital art? Thanks for any help. |

I've got a range of sizes, but do most of my work on a 19" (and play games on my 21" hehe).
Use whatever you can get your hands on though. Flat screens are nice. Apple says they're switching to an all LCD product line. Very nice, but $$$ ouch. |

If you're serious, go for at least a 19" monitor... IMO. |

I use a 17", which is temporary..but I plan to buy a 21". 21" is pretty reasonable...have you all seen the Sony 24"? Sweet.

When i started diving into digital art, all i had was some old junky 17'ner...i couldn't afford a bigger screen (19' or even 21' !), so i got myself an old 15 incher, together with a second graphic card (came in for a total of 200 $)...with that 15/17 combo i was quiet happy for a couple of years....now i'm working with a 22' though...
greetz
PS: if you can afford it, go large....19 at least...the bigger the better, but watch quality and price...otherwiese go for the combo (if you hace the space on your desk, that is) |

I've got a Geforce 2 card, can I just pop in any old PCI video card for secondary output or do I need to pick a specific make?? |

Yes Ysg, just buy an extra pci card, pop it in and Windows (2000 is what I have) will do the rest. |

17" is fine for doing digital art, but of course the bigger the better. You should consider refresh rate, though because you can wrack your eyes if it's too low. I work on an older 21" at school, and I have to take breaks once in a whle becuase the rate is less than wonderful. At home.. 17", can't work on any less than 1280 x 1024
