Hi when i installed painter 6 i get an error saying it cannot open painter.pap
but its there!! anyways so to get around that i put in the painter.pap form my painter classic which now it opens but i cannot use the paint brush tool without it crashing. Can someone upload the painter.pap for painter 6 to a site or even email me it?

Try reinstalling from the CD...
Something might have been incorrectly installed... Then patch to 6.1

I had the same problems till I downloaded the 6.1 patch, after installing it I haven't had any trouble at all. No crashes or anything.
I've heard this happens a lot if you have the |337 H4><0R version. But then again it happened to mine too so who knows.
give the patch a try!
