Hi guys, i'm a complete n00bie to 2D art work.
I'm very skilled at drawing and was going to purchase a Graphics Tablet from my local PC World.....until i saw the price 349.99! for an A4 size!
I want to ask :'What size should i get?' because A5 was 149.99 and A6 79.99 please help I'm willing to pay quite a bit but need to know if its worth getting A4.

P.S. i'm only 14 b/day soon

Hey guys - where's the URL to that fabulous Wacom FAQ someone (don't remember who) made? It's time we post that again ...

Anyway - what I recommend you get is the Wacom Intuos 6x8 - perfect for any job ...
You won't be disappointed ...

Personally i have not used a wacom cause they are SHITLOADS out of my price range at the moment, so ive had to settle for an MGlogic tablet for the next year and a half till i can afford a wacom, but the MGlogic seems fine to me, it does an alright job(but saying that i'll probably be completely wrong after using a wacom) anyway the MGlogic is like a 3rd the price of a wacom lol, but get a wacom if u got the money

Do do a search on this topic. Do do a perusal in the F.A.Q. Don't check out the the post that is lower down on the page by JM. It had plenty of said info, but unfortunatley you cannot check it out due to the latest Forum crash...

Due do.

You'll find what you need.

As Loki stated, 6x8 works fine. I have that at home and a 9x12 at work that I'm finally used to, but it takes up quite a bit more precious desktop space. Must have room for coffee and plastic toys. More $$$ too...

Do!

The Graphire obviously has less pressure-sensitivity than the Intuos, but, yes, it works just fine. In the end, it's your skill, not your tools, which make or break your pictures. The Graphire tablet is also very durable. I have jumped on mine, trodden on the pen, cracking the casing from nib to eraser, masking-taped the pen back together, broken it in half again, taped it up again, and the damn thing is still going. I keep meaning to trade it in for an Intuos, just so I can get all the extra features, like pen-tilt sensitivity, but I live in Canada and I can't find one anywhere.

Yeah the WACOM 6 x 8, USB (important for speed) and get the special edition!! I wish I did, it is the same price and it is black WOOOO!

Also, try Painter 5.03 or 5.5...awesome for drawing\painting.

I still think the faq's about tablets etc is kinda weak. When your about to buy something it feels way better to hear it from you guys. A lot of hints and tricks etc pops up if you ask the right question. The faq is kinda poor saying whatever you buy it will suits someone. And it's not that annoying with these questions is it?
I mean the topic says it all. If you feel you don't got the time or the urge to answer it just don't read the topic. All though i guess some could be really annoying.. I just want to thank everyone giving advices to us newbies... thanks

A bit late to the party, but I just wanted to concur with the recommendations above.

I use a 9x12 Intuos these days, but I always have to shift things around my desk to make room. USB is great, if not just for the speed, but for the simple install and you don't have that bulky power adapter to plug in.

Wacom is offering rebates right now as well, don't know if their valid in your area though: http://www.wacom.com/promo/cow_bucks.cfm

One other thing, if you guys think the 9x12 is bulky, my roommate uses a 12x18!!! It's massive, you could put legs on it and make a nice table. First few weeks of using it his shoulder was killing him!

Cheers

D

the upgrade seems to have buried the faq (we'll overlook the fact I'm supposed to be updating it now)
