Hey all,

I've been lurking at Sijun for awhile now and thinking "I really should've been an artist" but for better or worse, programming is my thing for now. I don't _think_ a job posting is wildly inappropriate, because I've seen a few other job discussions around so I'm gonna give it a shot. I'm sorry if this post offends anyone, this is your chance to stop reading...

I've been working with one other person for about six months and am now a month or two from releasing the first version of an innovative, futuristic Half-life mod. I've been trying to find an artist with lots of modelling talent, but most "artists" interested in mods are the of the undisciplined, no-artistic-background variety. I'm looking for a great artist who wants to model some marines, aliens and/or a few weapons.

Me: Programmer, designer, loves games, almost done a really new and interesting mod for Half-life. Loves art, music, more into aesthetics, design and atmosphere than tech stuff. Programming is a tool to create an experience. See http://overmind.org for design docs, screenshots, background and more.

You: loves games, wants higher artistic values in games, loves ambient moody pieces like Blade Runner and Aliens, knows MAX and has great modelling skills, will work in their spare time (full-time if you can swing it) for the next month or few to create some great player models that many people will see and appreciate. Animation and texturing can be done by others but are happily accepted if you can do that too!

A couple last things to entice those with too many opportunities already:
- This isn't a Counterstrike clone or a clone of any sort. I think of it as a "game", not a "mod".
- I'm lucky enough to have a killer 2D artist (see the recent "Hot Naked WW2 Action" thread, in the Finished work section at Sijun...that's a different game though)
- I'm trying to make this a "pure" game creation experience. There is no money involved anywhere in this, this is about creating a game that's artistic and wonderful. However, it's also about getting something out there that people can play, hence this post.
- Custom orchestral soundtrack for that cinematic feel
- Three words: atmosphere, emotion, meaning
