I don't know whether to be delighted or terrified--on the spur of the moment, I quit my job from hell today. Problem is, in my haste, I forgot to find another job to replace it. (Oops.) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where an illustrator with experience in all the usual programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, Pagemaker, Dreamweaver, and, since two weeks ago, Flash 5.0) might turn up a job--or at least a freelance contract or two.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks.... |

Does it have to be a rat-related job? I suppose a job as an exterminator is out of the question.
(Sorry, couldn't resist. I won't bother you anymore I promise.) |

I have no ideas, but... good luck. That was quite the brash move, no? |

Hey Socar, wanna work for me? I'm hiring for a full-time artist. You'd have to relocate to Louisville, KY though. I think you can handle painting textures for games just fine? Do you know any 3D at all, or just 2D? |

Way to go man. If the job made you quit like that, I'm sure it wasn't worth staying for. It's hard to find an employer that treats you well. Keep looking and don't forget what's important.

Well, if you're in Vancouver you've got quite a few options. There are of course a hand full of game companies, Relic, Radical, Barking Dog, H2O, oh yeah and umm, EA. You can also try looking at the www.careerclick.com website, they often have some jobs I'd like to apply for if I weren't stuck in Calgary for the meantime.
Oh yeah, I applaud you for your brave move. Good luck, |

Thanks for the offer, Lunatique, but unfortunately, I can't relocate. I've still got a term and a half of art school to go, so I'm well and truly stuck in Vancouver for the moment. Otherwise, I'd snap it up in a second, though. If you ever decide the job's the sort one can do from a 'virtual office', though, do let me know.
Staff Sarge--Har, har, har. Veeeeery funny. *Chuckles* Heh.
Yeah, I know it was a bit of an insane move, ditching the job like this, but it really wasn't much of a job, to begin with. |
