Hey peeps, I can tell just by having a quick 5 minute scan of these forums that you all are very talented artists. Well i'm not, i'm not too bad i've designed popular websites in the past that were very aesthetically pleasing. I'd have to say tho that my real talent lies in programming. In a couple of months time I will be setting up a website based upon programming mods for first person shooters. Now although i'm not really seriously starting yet I am starting to think about how the page logo is going to look. Can anyone give me some inspiration here, i'm slightly stuck for what to do. I usually make the logo first then design the site around it. I've made a graphic already but thats exactly what it is, it wouldn't fit into a website design. Any ideas, or perhaps what you would do would be greatly appreciated. Umm i;m in the middle of setting up a free account so I will post the pic l8er when i've uploaded it to the internet.

excuse me for being so blunt, but that logo is not good.

a) you can hardly read the text
b) the white stuff and the blue stuff are just cut off at the edges
c) what is it with that white and blue stuff anyway? the white seems to be some kind of code, c or what? it's not clear until you take a very close look. too much distortion i guess

designing a logo, you should ask yourself: does this logo work in big? does it work in small? (this one doesnt! the text is too small in comparison to the whole thing) does it work in black and white? ist it rememberable? is it original? is it too simple? is it too complex? (this one is, probably)
