Three things;
1) My books review site is now offically open to the public;
http://www.sumaleth.com
If books are your thing, have a look around.
2) The full Final Fantasy movie trailer was released today (saturday);
http://www.apple.com/trailers/columbia/final_fantasy/index.html
It really kicks ass, I can't stop dribbling.
(Spooge: spot anything you had a hand in?)
3) This link has quite an interesting tute on doing detail in Photoshop;
http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001753.html?004-200104171909
It's done by Per128, not me, but I thought there might be some beginner digital artists interested in other peoples work methods.

Bonus comment: just saw a movie called Thirteen Days. The shot was mostly over before I realized what it was, but this is the movie Spooge did that mega detailed Whitehouse matte painting for. I'd love to see that shot again, but it was certainly totally convincing.
Great movie too.

Loki: totally agree with you - if the story is good, FF looks like it's going to blow PIXAR out of the water (and I've long been a huge PIXAR fan).
It looks great. I just hope it's consistantly good and has a strong story to go with it.

It's Square, the people who brought you roleplaying games with stories you wished were in movies? Well the time has come, and I doubt they will F*** things up. |

Wow, Sum ...
It's been two years since I left Square, and I've got to say it's come a long way ... holy crap that FF stuff looks good! Looks like Pixar is for kids after all. No more ants toys or other little critters, huh?
Seems like once again, Hironobu Sakguchi will be the golden child. He got in trouble when Square made the first loss in it's history this yeasr and had to resign as vice-president of the company, down to something like 'executive creative director' 0 but after this, he'll be golden once again ...
wow ...
Thanks for posting that! |
