in the newsgroup alt.binaries.pictures.fantasy-sci-fi
there's just been a slew of (about 50-100)
pictures from sijun members posted, one even says "merry christmas sijun"
don't know who's work it is, and most isn't really new stuff, but this is the posting header from my newsgroup client, the person is posting it using the power-poster software and is using that as their online name

Jesus man... my ENTIRE archived galleries are posted there, since 1998... over 83 images of mine...

Here's my answer to the newsgroup when a person asked if these images were done on computer or scanned:

"Being the artist that did the entire lot of images that have been distributed here WITHOUT MY CONSENT, I guess I can say they are all done in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet (some of them were hand pixeled in Sunset Design's GFX2 using a mouse).

To the people here, I have to say I am dissapointed in how my stuff got here... that is, over 83 images of mine without asking me if those images could be distributed. All the content on my site is copyrighted, and it is stated on my website that you should ask permission before using any of those images, and I do not like my images being posted here without me knowing about it. I figured no one would be dick enough to do that, and have left the images available on my website so people could enjoy them at their own discretion, knowing who the artist was.

For those who liked my stuff, I thank you, but this is not the sort of thing I support nor appreciate. If you want to see my images, visit my website (http://pages.infinit.net/doros) and GIVE ME THE DAMN CREDIT I DESERVE instead of just posting my images to a large group of people who will never know the individual who has put effort into making these (speaking of MYSELF in this particular case).

I kindly ask that you stop posting my images here, as they are MY images, NOT YOURS, and it is therefore up to ME to decide what I want or do not want done with them... and it is not my wish to have them HERE where they should not be distributed. My website was built for this purpose, and is accessible to the public where everyone can enjoy them and know where it came from... not here.

I will be checking up on this and other newsgroups to see if this persists. If it does, I will have to either legally persue the people responsible for such actions, or simply stop making my stuff available to the public where some individuals with no sense of credit or right-or-wrong could keep doing this.

Sincerely yours,
Danny 'Frost' Oros.
"

I think that was a fair reply...

Thanks for the heads-up Vesuvius...

Oh crap, not again.. sorry to hear about that Frost.

I'm betting someone's going to bitch saying your not the one who did those. That seriously pisses me off. I've grown tired of this, and I think digital artists need to find a better means of protecting their online portfolio's. Hell even preventing 'right-click, save-as' would help (not every idiot out there knows of print-screen). Secondly, start hiding your name within the picture, hell even a thumbprint perhaps.

Not every artist has gold lined in their pockets for a lawsuit. Not to mention to many people rip others artwork to even try to pursue.

Just thought I'd give an update of the situation there. I've been trying to get some sense knocked into those people's heads about how artists may not want their work to be distributed to large masses and how it may go against their wills and right of distribution, but it's all hopeless.

I've seen some of Vebjorn's images there, as well as Jason Manley, and possibly a few others... I've sortf of given up fighting them.

HEhe... I think the solution is just to make your SIG real big and if they were to cut it out. it would take a chunk of the picture with it

But anyway, sorry to hear that people are taking your work again... but, on the bright side its free advertising
