Bad idea.. I think.
You can get plenty of artsy photographs in some of the nude art photography newsgroups, and it's possible to find quite acceptable naked people for various studies too in the countless groups. In good poses, yes.
Paying to draw from pictures on my computer is just lame. LIFE study is something you do from life. Real life.
Nothing wrong with practice, but don't think that drawing from the computer will give you the same feel for the model as drawing from life will. Or the same skills. There's a big difference.
Anyways, just my opinion. |

hey b0,
The issue with drawing from a 2d ref as opposed to drawing from life, is that once the subject has been reproduced in representaional form, certain desicions have been made for u. for example. if u draw from a drawing, u are using someone elses line decisions to base your off of. in the case of photpographs, you are using the lights and the focal length/apature the photographer used to base your draiwng off of. What you are losing is the deccision of what to draw and what not to draw. Everyoine looks at the same model but makes diff choiuces and decides to use diff marks to express what they see.
try this:
-take a photo and get 3 pple to draw from it
-0then get an object and get 3 pple to draw that.
look and see how similar the photo ref drawings are in compairison to the still life. What you'll prolly see is that pple go into 'photocopy mode' when they see a flat 2d work and start copying from it.
Good luck...
