Many comic book colorists I know earn low 6 figures
($100,000-$250,000) if they work a lot

When I was asked this question last week I decided that I wanted to be employed.

f'real.... But it means lots of all nighters for a one man band like me... I was up 3 solid days over the weekend, and I'll be up all night tonight....I never should have taken on 4 books per month.

"range of salary for an artist" . . . not much to go on. Zero to millions I guess.

Animation Salaries:
clean-up: 30,000
inbetweener: 60,000
lead animator: 120,000
Okay, this is based of memory from what my Animation teacher told me a few years back, it could be off. |

Tovart: I often start coloring better and faster after about 12 hrs of work...maybe the rest of my brain sleeps, and the "color" synapses take full control of my body or smething...
Somehow I've developped this thing where I can be more or less fully functional as long as I get 45 minutes of sleep per day. Seriously, I sleep for 45 minutes, and I pop up off the couch like a coffee vampire. Last time I did a 3 day shift, instead of sleeping when I was done, I went out for beers and stayed up well into the night. Go figure. You pay for it later though.
On the whole though, I'd rather be doing 1-2 books per month, I don't really have the time to put into thes pages that I'd like...sigh...often freelancers are cursed with the time vs. quality thing .
Hey! Enough about me! Lets see some more posts for Nightmare's questions folks...
