I think using "not so legal software" is not so bad at all if you dont make profit with it. Who can afford buying expensive Software for learning it? And that in addition to the required Computer?
In my opinion companies should be happy if an individual uses their software and gets used to it, because he surely will buy that prog, if he needs it e.g. for creating artwork he sells.
For games or movies thats different, caus in that case they arent made to use them for creating something, but to enjoy them as an end user!
Just my view of it!

Isnt it 3dsmax that is releasing a free version for learning the program? I think this is superb! I wish the other companies would catch on to this.

that would be nice, 3d software is too expensive for me to go buying right away. My family is anti piracy so all my software is legitimately bought. In other words I don't have Photoshop, I use PSP which I got for like $50. I may need to buy Flash soon for a job I plan to get, but I will hopefully be able to make the money back and then more to buy some more gagets

I believe the majority of the people in here uses illegal software. Reason why is because of their age, most of them are from 15-18 and i'm sure they would not spend 900 bucks out of their pocket to get Photoshop.

p.s: I'm one of them

I agree.
If anyone wants a superior program to make money, they will have to buy it... Demo's suck badly especially the photoshop one {limited filters)

I think It's ok, cause the person will buy it if they want to make $$

Limited Filters?? Thats a good thing, there are very few that are really useful for the most part. The basic features are the important ones. At the same time, local schools have the software where you can learn, and I know its hard to buy the software, but many companies offer student versions at a lower cost.

though I don't believe all 3d software is too expensive...hash animation master...truespace?? Both are good programs. Besides, you won't be able to even get close to using many features right away, it takes awhile to become accustomed to 3d.

just my opinion...
