Well, I recently purchased myself a Graphire, to my initial excitement. Excitement turned to frustration, however, when I discovered how difficult it is to control. The lines I draw are wobbly, and the shading process is completely contrary to what I thought it would be. My question is: Does this type of difficulty fade with practice, or is it due to the quality of the Graphire as a tablet? Someone mentioned today that they're to "wibbly" to draw with, is that really true? Am I stuck with nothing more than a glorified mousepad? Or will I be able to make this thing work for me the way it's supposed to? Please let me know what you think I should do.

I just got my tablet about a month ago, though it's not a graphire, I went trough that same senario for a few weeks. I'm still learning myself, but that stage did pass....besides I really don't think Wacom would make a tablet less quality just because of the price...being that most students and others will be dependent on the lower cost models. The pen imo is what matters and they're the same...Intuos and Graphire.

modify: I didn't mean the actual sensitivity levels...but rather the quality of the pen.

Soon enough you'll never even consider using a mouse to draw. I've never used a tabet of a higher quality than a graphire so I don't know if it's wibly or wobly, but that's what I use and I think it's great. Besides, it's all about the pressure sensitivity, and the mouse can't do that at all.

I have a quick question about the Wacom Intuos Tablets, particularly the 9x12. I Just recieved one yesterday in the mail, after an hour of trying to get my Intous Pen to work, I gave up. But later, I found out that this was because my 4d mouse was on the tablet while I was testing the pen. So does this mean that I could only use one tool at a time? Oh, and in answer to the original post on this thread, I think the pen is WAY better than using a mouse. It's not like a Pen though, feels more like a real brush

Hey everybody, thanks for all the responses! I really appreciate the insight. I guess I'll just keep plugging away at it. Later!
