So guys, what kind of mouse do you have at your computer ?
I need a new one because I'm still stuck with my 4 1/2 years old 2-button Microsoft Mouse and I need a 3-button mouse to better use my graphics software.
So today I had a look at some mice in a computer store nearby, but none of those satisfied me. I want an optical mouse for precision and cleanliness reasons, and I want a REAL 3rd button, not a clickable scroll wheel. That only results in my accidentally scrolling around my windows while clicking....
So what can you guys recommend ? What do you guys use ?

Thanks,
-bugscratch

I have a Logitech 3 button mouse with a wheel. The third button is something I never use though. Try looking for PS2Rate on a search engine. It will set the mouse rate at 200Hz which will give much more control over it. Windows default is 60Hz.
I can control my mouse smooth enough that I can write my signature with my mouse.

Yeah I need the 3rd button for some 3D software. So that is really one of the deciding factors.

If I were buying a new mouse, I would get a good optical one.

i use a 3-button logitech mouse. it is optical, and the third button is used by your thumb. it even glows blue! it is an good all around mouse, it is precise, durable, shaped perfect for your hand, and it's logitech

i had a similiar microsoft mouse, which didn't feel as good as the logitech. why did i get the logitech? because the microsoft one died. go figure.

whichever manufacturer decides to make a mouse with a warming element in it, I'll be using it ASAP.. Same goes for the tablet. I nearly always suffer from cold fingers while drawing.. annoying.. Does anyone else have this?

Here's what i use:

It's like a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, only with HIGHER DPI, it works on MORE surfaces, and is imo shaped better (Thumb/index/ring/pinky buttons, middle wheel). And the funny thing is while the Intellimous Explorer is like 75 bucks, I got this guy at Microcenter for 20. Go figure.

Best 20 bucks i ever spent :P

ha that is the dodgiest piece of crap mouse i hav ever used.. it feels flimsy and platicy.. that mouse is such a rip.

the microsoft explororer is more ergonomic and comfortable with more buttons. sure it is more expensive but it aint bloody $75..

more like $40

when you pay for microsoft you get quality.. Ive been using my explorer since they came out and im very happy with it... I say optical is the only way to go these days

not meaning to single you out, i just thought that was very funny.

why more than two buttons? games. and often times you can program the additional buttons to do common OS tasks...

I use a Logitech three button mouse, great stuff, never has the mouse ball gunked up.

Danny: getting the cold fingers usually means you've been working too long and that you need to take a break and get some blood back in your hand, hehe. I've gotten that after doing 3D work for a couple hours non-stop.
