Oky Doky! I haven't been able to connect here for a few days, for whatever reason... but now that I'm here, I want to show off an AVI I made of a digital drawing that comes to life right in front of you! I love watching people draw... so I thought I'd share

I've had problems with Mac users... who apparently are incapable of playing the AVI format. If this is true of you, then I apologize for the inconvenience. If you're on a PC, then it should work fine Here is the final drawing:

...And here is the download link (the AVI is 2.55 meg) : Muscleface.AVI

Comments are more than welcome. Enjoy!

hey those were great! i always wanted something like that. thanks.. bookmarked your page think you'll do any more? seems like a decent way to for me to learn some of the details of digital art that are usually overlooked (i can pause and step-through to see how everything is achieved)

there's no way to slow them down is there?'

Mike,

That was really great to watch. You know, I may change my mind about how guys from Idaho draw. Keep up the great work and thanks again for the favor that you did for me.

Don! Wow! Nice to see you in here

I'm glad I'm doing my job as art embassador from Idaho. np on that 'favor.'

I'm glad I'm getting such a positive response from this avi thing. I've done something really screwy, in deleting files from my hard drive... and now painter won't accept the avi compression formats anymore. It may be some time before I figure the problem out, but I spent 5-6 hours trying to solve it. I fear that I won't be able to get it to work again, short of reformatting my hard drive.

I've tried reinstalling painter, downloading different avi compression formats, and even re installing windows 98. I have no idea what to do Wish me luck, eh? And I'll be sure to post my next one.

Meanwhile, if you have Painter 6, you can watch these in script (SSD) format, if you visit my homepage and download them from the "Watch Me Draw" section.

nice drawing feebsaint its cool to see how other ppl draw since i rarely get to.
and about the question of slowing down the video.. its possible if u own a program like 3dstudio max, after effects.. or any other app with a ram player.. just load the movie into ur ram player and adjust the frame rate.. im sure there are other ways to do it as well just that method came to mind

AAaaauuugghhh! It looks like my server has been down most of the day... can anyone see the image above? (in the first post of this thread) My friend hosts my webspace for free, but either his computer is down right now, or... uh oh.... his domain name ran out? I think it's been two years since he registered it (gamecreator.com). Someone please check www.mikespencil.com for me, and let me know if they're unable to reach it, as I am.

I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks for your responses. It seems split as to whom its working for. I'm getting nothing, and instead of mikespencil, I'm now getting a domain name registration site.

"gamecreator.com" is my web host, owned by my friend, so I need to call him tomorrow if this problem persists.... it's really bothering me.

As to how I made the avi of my drawing, I've built a "How To?" section of my website that explains it, only it won't be up until I can get my connection back. > MAN I'M MAD!!

Well, I hope the page keeps working for most. I'd rather others can see it, even if I can't.

Cool, some more people from the Provo/Orem area. =)

The pencilled look is great.

I love that guy riding the pencil on your web page, heh. =)

Looks like all is working fine again. I got an email from my web host. His DNS service has been screwed up. He got things fixed, though. Hopefully everything will work swimmingly from this point on.

I'm gonna make some new SSD's today or tomorrow

That .avi Rocked!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. This is me (Waldo) replying from home and everything here worked fine - both PC's. It could be my system at the office or not. I am the furthest thing from a techie so who knows. I'm still trying to get my tablet to work (Thanks to those that helped last week ). I'll check this thread from the office tomorrow and send you an e-mail if needed. If I don't respond to any further replies today it's because I'm offline...

I can't figure out a computer and now I expect to figure out a furnace?

Love your stuff and love your style...

Cheers!

Love your compliments!

Appreciate the attention. I don't think that it's your system that's the problem, I'm getting reports of trouble from other areas, too. It may be a router, or something. I'll try and let everyone know.

Waldo.

Ok, I've emailed my web host. I really hope this is a temporary setback. Are you unable to go to my site? Or are you just unable to get the avi working? I need to know, so I can fix the proper problem.

Let me know. I'm glad you like the shit out of my work ...and yes, I do draw stuff!

Lukias.... do make a sketch. I have only one entry so far, and I want to make sure the project is a success... so anything would be appreciated. We want to make sure we get a snowball effect on this.

Well, guess what? I have a new drawing recorded. Here is the image, followed by the link to download it:

Grin.AVI 916k.

For all of you who asked me how I make these, I have now included a "How To" section in my website, to answer the questions. I've posted the instructions on other message boards, so I made the "How To" section on my site to save the time of explaining everytime. I hope you don't mind. Just visit my site, if you really want to learn the steps. There are 10 steps, and each step has an image to make it as easy as possible.

----I modified this, due to a bad link. ...whoops!!

Lukias,

You're having the same link problem as some other's out there. I have no idea what the problem is, but it's something to do with the webhost, or ISP. Sorry, nothing I can do about that, but continue complaining to them. Thanks for the heads up, though, and good luck getting it to work in the future
