Here is a little "logo" that i made for my band. It was so easily made that i didnt think that it deserved to be in any of the other forums.

Basically the logo should also look good even in B/W and it prefferable to have the logo in vector to make it more convinient to for further usage.

Anyway to use plug-ins as well as actions is not a good technique among not only digital artists but also industrial designers :

Well, to tell you the truth, i was really bored, and i decided to go through some of the actions i had downloaded. It wasnt supposed to be serious at all, just a little "fun" thing that i did.

I condone the use of filters for graphical design elements such as logos, titlebars and other such highly resized and printed media. "Job One" is to make it look nice... Photoshop just makes the process less expensive and quicker.

It's not art, but it is very useful for text and logos.

Now, if you were to do a background image for this band (maybe for a CD cover) I would definitely reccomend hand-drawn/hand-moused all the way (or at the very least, phot-collage). The reason is because stuff touched by hand ages much better than filter work (which will be duplicated in the future and will lose unique worth).

If you play Myst these days... you'll see right through the presentation of the 3d graphics... you won't be as immersed this many years later because it is SO easy to pick up on the duplicated trees, textures and even the bump-mapping. Just from one year of working with 3d graphics, I can see the primitives they used to make most of the shapes in that game (a lot of it still rocks btw - all the high polygon pieces like the beds and cabinets).

Now, when Myst 3 comes out, that hand-drawn and hand-shaded scenery is gonna shine through like 6 suns and the full-surround view is gonna rock.
