im using this scene for a animation, any tips or hints to improve the lighting / coloring?
the animation is based on the life of a old pencil that is neglected , and the PC used instead. The headphones are just extraish..
Ive tried to play a little with the zoom factor to make the objects a little less square.

They seem to have a nice feel with the focal length you are using, so i think you should try and add to that sorta feel. Maybe tint everything just a little, perhaps play a little with symbolism in color between the pencil and the PC. Watch the tesselation with your objects too. the mouse pad definitely isn't quite round and the ear pad on the headphones looks a bit lowpoly as well.
Keep it up yo.

And try to adjust a bit the perspective settings...you know, your pic is suffering this old architectural photography problem (I do not know how it is called in English...parallax?) that makes your shapes look like trapezoids instead of rectangles (unless it is the effect you are looking for, but it is a bit strange). |

Hrmm...... I haven't dont 3d before so If I don't make sense.... don't lsiten to me. Anyway, the cord of the mouse is a little too fat in my opinion. It's also too fat..... keep in mind that the cord doesn't lie flat on a table so might as well add a bit off reflection there. Also, I think that the reflection of the computer and monitor are a little too long... do they really go through the translucent mouse pad like that? From what I'm seeing....... the mousepad is further than it should be. anyway, A very nice color compination though. As for lighting..........depends on what kind of scene it would be. I thinky our best bet would to be introduce a halogen desk lamp or something.... Anyway, great models. You might want to increase the poly counts or splice it on the eaphones head muff area. |

Don't listen to him
I guess the fat mouse-cord is just a result of the shadow and/or reflection of itself. |

nice models ... i think they look great ... only suggestions i really have are this... some of the reflections are set a little high, and almost everything has some sort of "surface" .. meaning, the models look like glass ... overall, looks good ...

Two quick comments;
. The headphones need more polygons on the ear parts.
. It feels like that bright blue floor should be casting some reflected/bounce color up onto the objects.
Row.

I really like that style sharpe that trapazoid effect looks intentional to me, if it's not it still adds a really really good feel to it, kinda like sharp detailed cartoony. I like it, cant wait to see the animation

hmm.. is it just me.. or.. that reflection of the headphone at the top... shouldnt it... be different.. see the buldgey-outy bit.. (excuse my lack of grammer.. lack of sleep :P ) but shouldnt the reflection of that be directly underneath that piece? to me it looks like the reflection is the wrong way around for that earpiece...
other wise... great pic! i love those wild twisted perspectives... mmm tim burton - ey. |
