Think it looks good so far, but you would get a better crit if you finished coloring. Right now i would tell you the glow stick needs well more glow, but you arent done coloring so you might of added the glow later.
sorry but not much to crit. I thought you got crits on the post you had before,

Looks good as of now... if you want to add a bit more realism... just darken up shadows. And....work faster... thursday is 2 days away!

Lookin' good. Not much I could say to critique it. As for juicing it up, I think you should do something fancy with the wings. Like make the shimmering gold or something. Good luck

Can't tell yet what he's doing with his right hand. Looking off into the distance? As if to see if his arrow landed right. But his arrow is in his hand? Anyway, his gaze leads the viewer's eye into the abyss of blank space on the left side, and there's not much to lead the eye back. The arrow down there helps a little, but maybe something in the background? Even a color gradient that curves back down into the pic.

Oh come on now, you're not REALLY trying...yeah, uh-huh, sure. 8)

Anyway it's looking good so far. The only thing I'd do is start getting that raised hand fleshed in better and I'd bring the elbow up a tiny bit. The coloring looks like it's coming along well, it has a nice watery style to it. The only major thing I'd change are the wings...they seem to be missing a segment. It should probably go a little more like this:

Oh, I can't remember how exactly this's being used but Pigeon is right in that it is hard for the eye to come back after looking out to the left. Depending on how this's being used I'd try some of their suggestions. Hope this helped.

In photography you learn that when you take a photo to someone looking to a direction (in this case the left) you should add some extra space to that place, but I don't know if it would work for this
The pic is very neat already, I will follow Flint's ideas about the wing and faust's one about making a background.

with a line drawing, you need to use the lines and the textures you paint to suggest the kind of material you're drawing. for example, denim has a rougher texture. here your lines and color are so smooth that they look more like pvc pants. same with the hair. hair has a lot of strands. the way you're coloring it, the hair looks like black rubber to me. i think a bit of attention to this kind of thing would make your drawing look better.

good luck!

What do you mean you don't know how you want his hand? Are you talking about position or what?

How about this: his hand is relaxed, his fingers hanging loosely on his eyebrow at a 90 degree angle from the rest of his hand, and his thumb extending away from the direction he's facing.

Hope I could help.

Ok.. the hand he's looking with sucks.. but I am under pressure.. and the guy doesn't seem to hate that hand (he didn't comment on it) so I am going to leave it for now... I put more detail in the hair.. and will work on the jeans. The wings have been changed thanks to flint (thank you thank you thank you). Here is where I have....

Awwww... you care! You really care! j/k

I would do a background, but he's just going to cut the guy out and paste him on a flyer. so the background would be over kill concidering I now Have 1 day to get this done.

I'll be working on the wings and the textures... I can't figure out how I want his hand (the one looking). The last thing I am going to do is the shadeing.

thank you all though. If anyone has any ideas on the hand please help me there.

Looks good, Ivey. As for that hand: its relaxed position doesn't match up with where it is. The hand is extended away from the face, which would mean the muscles of the arm are tensed due to holding the arm up.

Either extend the fingers in a more tight, straightened position, or move the hand so it rests on his forehead with his fingers above his eyebrows.

I hope what I said makes sense.

Hey, it came out pretty good! I like the thick outline inking style, seems to be prevailent in comic style artwork these past couple years. The detail in the hair and the wings came out really well.

I see you mentioned some troubles with the hand which is understandable due to the angle you're viewing it at. I would've changed the position of the thumb to rest on the forehead and added some shadow casting onto the eyes but it all still reads the way it's supposed to so it's doing it's job.

Sometimes you have to learn that there's only so much time to sit and tweak something when you're doing work for a client or your job so I'd be happy with what you've done in the time given and don't get down on yourself. Tomorrow is always there for improvement and if it isn't there...well that means you've got bigger problems to deal with, hehe. I'm never completely happy with a texture or a model or an animation I do here at work but there's a schedule to keep and the best I can do is give it my all during the time I have it and move on...that's the way industry or commercial art goes in general.

Anyway, good job on the piece...now how's it feel to do a piece of art for someone else?

You should see the flyer its going on.. it looks really good. Its on my site if you're really interested... again..thank you very very very much.

How does it feel to help teach someone?

Your input helped too Bishop. seriously.. the diagrams that flint gives me just tend to help a lot.

I guess when it comes to art I am a visual learner. Check your e-mail Bishop.

I think it came out quite nicely Ivey! I think the modification you did to the wings helped to solidify the overall appearance of the pic. I can definitly tell you're getting better too. later!

Hah, me, an art teacher? Even mentioning it jokingly makes me kinda laugh to myself since most of this board has seen more instruction than I've ever gotten. Until last fall I hadn't seen a single art class since 7th grade...didn't draw much of anything until the end of my senior year (I should post some of the pictures I've kept from that period, yuk). Last fall I took art classes but from what I hear they were much like Art I that freshmen take in high school...mostly stuff I'd figured out on my own though not completely useless. At least I learned enough to get a job doing this stuff

Until I can take a few more classes I just try to get to local coffee shops and other public places where I can sit and sketch random people for practice. There's still plenty to learn but I still learn things by helping other people like you out as well as absorbing whatever random teachings this forum has to offer. It does feel good to pass on what I've learned though.

I checked out the flyer and it looks really cool! I like the way it was used and how the wings create a bit of a radial design. Hehe, I just looked at it again and noticed the date for the event...my birthday, useless trivia bit for ya, funny coincidence.

Anyway, I'm only too happy to help. I'm glad the quick drawings are easy to understand...much more so than if I was trying to type it I imagine. And yes, you are improving, of course, I don't know too many people that get worse with practice Keep up the good work and keep practicing, I look forward to seeing some more stuff.

hey, just wanted to say that you pulled this off really nicely.

the thick outline gives your drawing a lot more weight, and it looks really nice scaled down and added to the flyer. i know what you mean about the limitations of time and all. i've done a few bits of lineart for cd covers, and i'm never satisfied with what i end up with. but i guess if the client is, thats what counts.
