Heres my attempt at photorealism, please tell me what you think, and what could I add to spice this up? Its looking pretty bland.

too much dune for you.
the hair is the first thing that sticks out. it's not hair, it's a mass. draw each strand by hand, it's fun.
the shading around the jaw line and the side of the mouth and between the eye socket and the ear is pretty rough, made me think of a android or something similar. then there's the background, the frames and whatnot..........

he would look really neat if you made the window pretty much the only lightsource. so this side of his face is pretty dark and he has an outline. not so extreme, not like noir extreme. but just a bit more.
he needs more depth to him too. but u knew that already, u said so yourself

WOW I HAVWENT POST FOR A LONG TIME .. ANYWAYS I THINK ITS AN AWESOME IMAGE. THE ONLY THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT HALF OF A MOON IN THE bACKGROUND . I DONT KNOW WHY IT JUST LOOKS WEIRD TO ME

Ok.. this is sorta bland. You have a lot of boring space on the left the windows create odd shapes around the guys head that make it hard to follow.
Hmm.. to make it better change background.. maybe add another dude or monter to the left.. saturate the colors some more. Make it shiny. =)
