Chapel has made me see the light. . .
After a successful attempt on Fred's thread, I decided to stick my neck out and present myself to all of you guys. . .
I have a friend who is into painting Warhammer miniatures and I fell in love with the Orcs. At first I used the sketch lines as only a guide, but when I laid them back in, I liked it.
Let me know what you think. Don't hold back any punches. I've learned you need to have a thick skin around here.

Hi. That's really good. It has a very loose feel to it, but without all the redundant sketchy lines that you normally see in sketches. Every mark counts, which is good.
Two things you could improve, though, both dealing with his forehead. First, it seems a bit dark to me, which is causing it to recede and flatten out a bit. The second is that the dark lines you drew in don't quite work with the style of the rest of the pic - it would probably look better if you used little sketch lines instead of the thicker paintbrush lines. But I think brightening it up might solve the problem anyway.
Anyway, nice work, and I can't wait to see the revisions! |

Heh, that guy could have been in Warcraft 2. I like the gangster-type feeling, but I didn't manage catch it here. Anyway, here it comes.

Nice, I like it. you could try and experiment with some different hues in the skin now. play around with some different greens, maybe work with warm and cool etc. not to extreem, subtle is all it needs.
keep it up
[edit: I was going to say have a look at bg's version for what I'm talking about in terms of hue variation]

Thanks guys, appreciate the crits.
Waylon: As far as the forehead, I was trying to have a slight shadow run diaganoly across from the upper right down to the lower left, but in retrospect, I guess I should have went another route.
I'll try to think things through more carefully next time

Hi and welcome!
I like using fantasy creatures as topics for paintings, and yours is no exception.
I agree it looks a little WarCraft-ish, but it's still a very good picture nonetheless.
Only crit would be the 'thick vein' (?) on the topright of his forehead. Mayhaps I'm not looking right, but it seems odd to me.
