This is a painting of the norwegian shore I did as a x-mas-present for my grandma. Errr, yeah, whatever. Since there are so many scandinavians here I felt like posting it. It was done roughly from a reference photo out of a magazine. You might notice I kinda run out of time/motivation on the lower third of it.
Tell me what you think about it.

for some reason i actually like this.

too bad it doesn't look like norway.

(yes, i have been there. we drove from stockholm to stryn. 2 days drive. then we wandered around for a week between two ski centers. then another 2 days drive back via a different route. the countryside there rocks. amen.)

Faust: Hehe, as I said it was done from a photo from the norwegian coast, so it should. But i lost some of the craggy rock detail in there. Perhaps that's what it needs.

Hm, maybe i should just lower saturation a bit. I've been there last summer. There were some days of sun and color...and some without.
Damn, you reply too fast, just wanted to edit my post before anybody replied and...poof, too late.

cheers

Well, the pic was from a GEO-mag about norway. The description of the pic says it was norway, too, and I don't think those guys mistook that one. And there are LOTS of fjords at the coast to see. I've been to norway twice, too, and didn't see this one...but I guess I just have to put more detail into these hills. Right now it looks too smooth, like nice grassy hills, not the norwegian rock piles...maybe i can scan the two pages of the reference to show it here...

Reminds me of a painting from
Prince Eugene, you know which one I mean?

The colors in both your paintings are very similar.

pierre: no, never heard of him. Hope his work doesn't suck! Hmmm, blue sky, green hills. Not that odd, is it? I'll try to find what you were talking about...

Prince Eugene was a Swedish prince. I don't know much more than that. Pierre, there aren't any online galleries of his work, is there?
