Nice work, Chapel, on all three pages (since I haven't replied to the first two). You're definitely looking more and more professional as you work. I can't really say anything against this piece. The only thing that doesn't sit well with me is the city in the second to last panel...just seems more could've been done to make it look more like a city at night. It looks too bright right now...maybe breaking up the light areas at the bottom of the city with some streaks of darks. Also, some more contrast with the shadows on Superman's face in the last panel might look a tad better. He's looking a tad washed out even though he's in moonlight. Overall a nice job on these panels! Keep 'em coming, er, well, I guess you mentioned this was the last panel for this series but keep some other work coming.

You should probably create your own thread if you want to get crits. I don't think people check mine.

As far as any crits I can give I suggest you leave "anti-aliased" on when you do your cuts. When you turn it off your cuts look jagged. Also, chose a lightsource that seems logical. In the bottom panel you have light coming from directly above, but the moon is behind them.

I really don't like to crit other colorists, because I'm still learning too.

Uhm, if you stop posting here, you will post elsewhere right,: topcow, moore? Again you'd better...

I think you should make the magnifying glass stick out more. Emphasize(sp) it more.

Great job on the snow and bat signal. The inks didn't have the signal, but did the original colorist do it too? Or your idea?

I don't think cloudy night when I look at the sky though...

Nice work.

The inks did have the symbol.. I just took the liberty of playing with it. I know about the clouds too. I'm surprised Joe didn't indicate them in his original pencils. So, I didn't add any. I might.

This forum has done little to inspire me lately. All I see are posts of people bashing each other or arguing over silly things. Everyone seems to want to be a moderator and in part I do the same. Plus, most of the artist I look up to are just too busy to post and read threads here.

Yeah the forum is evolving pretty much, that what Frost is saying too in the other thread, some are going and others are coming in..
I don't post since I don't much time to work on my own art anymore, but I've been following the forum for about a year now, and I must say.. yes it evolves, some are less here and it is sad maybe but it is logical..
I guess it is everyone's duty to keep it friendly and instructive. :]

So long Chapel and good luck, you're one of a guy, you will do great job no doubt about this

ok, chapel Here's what I mean when I'm saying add more to the actual drawing. Not, that it's a very serious attempt but it gives an example of what I mean. When you see the bottom face you've colored, you have just given it the basic color and a subtle gradient on the side. But, madureira really have so much open spaces and that gives posibillities to give it something more. Make hard shadows and light that create shapes. I don't think you need to feel that you can't add anything because he didn't line up the lips or anything, because, not everything is fit with the black line and if madureira himself would have colored it I'm sure he would have added a lot more details... Like Adam Hughes do.
Just a very bad example (I'm not good at this, just trying to explain my thoughts ):

Oh and yeah, I agree with you about the forum lately, chapel. That's why I haven't posted much in a while. I have not seen much other than immature arguing and "random musing" kind of discussions here lately )and it seem so much that many of the guys here lately don't care for much else either)...it's really sad. I was hoping that when someone posted an inspiring picture again, like dhabh did with the new tutorial pic, it would open peoples eyes again and start thinking about what this forum really is and don't destroy it. I will have my x-mas holiday, post a few pictures after (maybe) and see where this is going. If the forum keeps on being infiltrated by childish discussions and crap, I will probably fade away too.....these last weeks I haven't hardly seen or read anything that has motivated me to participate myself So sad, it has such amazing potentials.( Could almost be good if it was stopped for new people to enter or certain requirements for people to join. )

Thanks Joachim. Unfortunately, I haven't developed a flare for dramatic lighting yet. Something I will have to work on. I have a bad habit of making all the tones real close.

Ok, is this closer. I didn't want to straight out copy Joachim. I liked what he did with the city though. I tried to strengthen the forms in supes face.

It looks better, Chapel
I think you can exaggerate the contrasts
and colours too and at the same time make the shading sharper. Be very careful where you put the highlights. It can easy make the shapes appear distorted or misshaped like on Supermans thigh in the first panel.
Hope this can help a little...

Mikael
