Ok, this is my second pic in this forum and i need some advice.
Somehow the broken stone on the bottom looks weird, so i need some advice how to paint it correctly.

Just add contrast in ps and make the neck unevenly broken - and use reference.

I think the borken stone looks strange partly because of the small chunks of which it is broken into. It looks more like dried up and broken putty or papier-mache type. Broken stone would be angular and have larger continuous edges instead of small breaks. At least, that's how I see it =)

I personaly dont think the broken stone at the bottom looks wierd..looks like broken stone to me I dont know what these other people are talking about? The only thing I can see doing is putting a slight highlight above some of the crack lines that usually helps make cracks look good for me when I make textures....looks good enough to me though.. |

the stone at the bottom isnt that bad actually, the problem there may be the "branches" of cracks that lead up the stone. As Frost said it would be a bit more solid in large angular chunks, many small cracks that lead up the object such as this make it look more like old, dried out broken wood. Hey, just change the color and add some grain and you have a great old wooden head Looks cool so far.
