Hey peeps. Long time no post, so I thought I'd post something. The reason I haven't posted anything is cuz I really haven't drawn/painted anything. I've recently been trying to get back into 'the flow' but it's been rather tough getting anything by the 'internal critic' I'm currently in the 'everything I do sucks phase' and can't seem to get anything done. I could really use some incouragement right now, so I figured 'why not post some art.

P.S. Sorry about clogging your bandwidth and adding another meaningless post to the recently crowded board.

Edit: Removed the word 'crap' from the post...

Holy crap man...that first drawing (Joan of Arc?)absolutely kicks ass...I love the detail and the stance and just about everything. You should really finish it and give it a bit of color. The second one is done pretty nicely, but the pose seems very generic.
Awesome job!

*Gasp* those are some stupidly good sketches you've got there Dino.

I think everyone goes through a 'everything I do sucks phase' from time to time. it rarely has anything to do with the quality of your work IMHO. One of the solutions I've found, is to change what you're doing a bit. don't burn out on only doing pencil sketches. work something up really nice, use some colour, try painting, do some 3D work. colour someone elses pic. whatever, just give yourself a change.
Anyway, works for me most of the time^_^.

Hehe, You can clog my bandwith with stuff like this anytime . loving it.

Hey...thanks for your replies guys . You know, I'm actually starting to feel a lot better now.

Bishop: I probably shouldn't be going around calling my work crap. I was just in a somewhat bad mood when I posted.

Rinaldo: That sounds like terrific advice, I think shifting the gears a little would really help me out .

Top Pic : This has to be inspired by Milla Jovovich (sp?) as Joan of Arc. It is fantastic. Like the pommel of the sword a lot. Gonna finish it? (ya know with legs n stuff!) Gonna colour it? Hope so.

Middle is less inspiring somehow. And not 100% sure about the shoulders (should we be able to see a smidgen of the back shoulder perhaps?)

Bottom : Like the priest character - esp the hand, looks really spindley and old.

In all - this is great work so quite yer whining and get on with finishing these pieces and making more

Ampa.

You are good, and going to be very good in the future, don't doubt that.
You like McCaig's stuff? Your rendering is somewhat similar

I think ppl that aren't forum stars are looking for a little compliment now and then, just too feel like they are worth something.
I totally think it's a good idea to let every artist on here have their share of the attention...even if it's only a little bit, it gives encouragement and furthers that persons work. After all every artist is sharing a piece of work ...maybe even a piece of themselves in a way, hell i dunno

Dino, you kick my ass when it comes to drawing "crap" as you call it

i think your image rules! The style is japanese-anime-realism, and it has a very
clean curve look to it. I really like the anatomy of the Joan of Arc image. Her pose is solid.

keep it up

Yay...some more replies, thanks First off, I'd like to apologize if I've come of as some sort of a whiner. It really wasn't my intention, but; I can't blame anyone for thinking so, cuz I prolly would too. IT won't happen again. Now to address some comments...

Ampo: The top one was actually an attempt at character design--although I did enjoy 'The Messenger' and may have been subliminaly(sp?)
inspired it. I can't say if I'll finish it but you'll probably see her turn up again somewhere . The shoulders on the middle pic are pretty screwy I know, I guess I didn't like the pic enough to try fixing it.

Plop: McCaig rules...too bad I don't own any of those art of Starwars books or any of his other work.

Anthony J: 'japanese-anime-realism' You know, I never looked at it that way. I guess I'm much more influenced by anime and manga than I thought
