Please take your time reading this.
Is it many of you that seriously uses ICC profiles? Adobe among others are focusing a lot on it these days, so I know many of you must have used it in some way or another.. Everybody knows that monitors, color settings and gamma values around are very different. And you can't be sure that everybody sees the color the way you want them to. Well, ICC profiles can certainly be helpful to this problem. But ICC profiles can also fuck up your colors completely. Also, it seems every program on your computer has it's way of showing colors, just try open your pictures in various programs. Take Spooges battle scene for example... I was visiting Micke yesterday, and we opened it in Photoshop 6. Because of the pictures embedded ICC profile didn't matched Mickes, we could choose if we wanted to convert the colors or not... The results varied from almost totally dark to "normal" (whatever that is..) And with total dark I mean total dark. You could almost not see anything of what was going on. The colors also seemed very saturated some times.
I know a few things about ICC profiles, but FAR from enough. In some cases it's been really helpful. But in other cases I think it's been a major pain! I just want to know if anybody has some experience with this, and if it's any ICC wizards out there which can explain this subject in a easy way. Please share your experience with others.
