Well, for your basic questions I'm sure www.academyart.edu will give you your basic answers. Cost, etc...
As far as portfolio, well.. quite honestly you don't need one. You got the cash, you can go to the academy.
The cost is what I believe to be rather expensive. Not only tuition, but living in or around the bay area is a whole other chunk of change in its own.
I am a film major, and the reason I am going to the academy is the facilities and equipment I'm able to get my hands on. The same goes with the computer arts classes. Always the latest in technology.
In my opinion the academy though is run much more like a business trying to make money than a school that cares about students though.
That is why I am deciding not to graduate, but rather just take all the classes I want to take and think I might actually need. The academy may be exactly what you're looking for... or a disappoint. I would suggest a tour of the buildings and talking to as many students as you can.
Credits really don't transfer in or out as easily as they might in other schools, either. So once you're here, if you're going for a degree, you're probably in for the long run. Graduating in under 5 years at the academy is nearly impossible. That would have been my pace with a full 4 courses in fall/spring and even a summer course.
Any other questions.... fire away ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |
