Hi
This is probably only marginally Digital Art, but...
Here's a photo from our recent trip to Hong Kong. There's too much cool stuff to look at there - more photos can be found here:

Dang, so much great reference material! I saved most of the images on your site for future reference. Post all you have! Just kidding of course-I'm sure you have hundreds. But hey, I'm game. :]

Thanks a heap for posting stuff like this.
One of the things that can really help our collective art is good reference material - and that's sometimes hard to come by. Posting a link to your photos is a great way to share that resource. Perhaps there should be a regular "post your reference material" thread/forum/page or something.....??
Cheers, A. |

Really cool, Francis. I used to live in Okinawa, Japan, and saw very similar architecture (Korea served as a land bridge for Chinese ideas to Japan, for all that don't know). Yeah, feels almost a bit like Blade Runner at times.
That statue of Buddha reminded me, anyone heard of http://www.maitreyaproject.org ? Being planned to be built in Bhodgaya, India by January, 2005. 500-foot tall Maitreya Buddha statue (2 times as tall as the Statue of Liberty). |

For francis and anyone else who's lived in Hong Kong. Is there are large english speaking majority there? What is the first language. Just wondering because I've always wanted to live there with my wife. |

Yeah, there is so much incredible reference there. I almost feel a little disillusioned, because now I realize a lot of my heroes were just depicting reality instead of coming up with this stuff out of their heads. Well, that may not be giving them enough credit, but still, I was pretty amazed.
Superbug, I believe the official language is (now) Mandarin, with Cantonese a close second. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Someone else asked me about English, and it is spoken pretty widely, especially in the more urban, touristy parts. Chinese definitely helps tho.
