Yeah that's right, I work at a grocery store. And the other day I had the gladiator soundtrack running through my head for 8 hours.
This idea was based on me, rushing through the parking lot triumphantly on my cart.

It's about damn time we got some of the appreciation we deserve! Us grocery distribution engineers put up with a lot of shit for you customers, and you don't even realize it! How much thought do you put into our jobs? Ever wonder how annoying it is when the little soup cans don't lock together and keep falling off each other, and our bosses just HAVE to have them all nice and neat? pain in the ass. The little edges on cardboard boxes, especially for beer cases, always hang on each other and rip the boxes open, which means damaged goods, and getting bitched at. pain in the ass. Annoying customers who stand by the wine and say "what aisle is the wine?" pain in the ass.

Only occasionally do we get some kind of reward from a customer, and I don't mean tips, even the bitchiest people give tips, that doesn't make us feel any better. Every once in a while there's just some cool customer who makes the day/week/month worth while even if they just do the smallest thing to help us out or give us thanks. You should all give that some thought.

I could go on and on, but I dont want to bitch.

Nice picture -- I really like the purple reflexive (?) lighting. I have a close friend who works in a grocery store, and he does some cool art. Not digital, but still neat: http://matt.robles.com

He has a lot of tirades about his job on his site. You may relate. :P

I used to work in a grocery store when I was much younger.
All I can say is keep running til you get out of the parking lot and never stop you never never stop.

i just heard that gladiator soundtrack.

He rips off three separate composers, with no credit given. Pretty shameless. And the balls to rip well known stuff that even a trog like me knows.

Homage, I guess.

I am really digging that right arm...

He used multiple 'slightly changed' sounds and tunes from Delirium as well. They have an hour special about him on Gladiator DVD, it's a trip to listen to him brag how he 'composed' that music. What a joke.

Yeah just about every movie composer rips off Wagner in some way.

Man Spooge, that Gustav Holst Mars piece sounds a lot like Star Wars there at the beginning too. Ugh, are all movie composers hacks?!

The piece sounds like Star Wars, Gladiator, and Superman.. hehe

Funny thing is, I was just listening to Mars, the Bringer of War by Holst today, and noticing how much it sounds like Star Wars music, mostly the Imperial March, aka the Darth Vader music. But a lot of it, like all the brass, reminded me very much of John Williams. Iunno.

JasonN: Where have I been? Just haven't been doing much art lately. And I was homeless for a while. But I'm okay now.

I still like Hans Zimmer. Every good composer has to emulate a style of the classics in some way.

Joel Loukus

P.S y'all hear yet? Silvestri is doing the soundtrack for the mummey returns/ not goldsmith! SHould still be good though.
