This is what I'd call a quick sketch as far as 3d goes, its really early in it's stage of development, but i'm happy with the direction its taking, texturing this beast is going to be fun. Unfortunatly my normal servers down so I had to open a damn geocities just to get it to post, hope it doesnt restrict image linking

yeah It's done in lightwave. It's a bit challenging for me as I'm working in maya at work, teaching using softimage and starting this personal project in lightwave, gets a little confusing at times.

Not too many replies though I expected that from one, an unfinished piece, and two, a 3d object. I'll have to try and get some free time to do some more paintings, that kind of thing generates better attention on a digital art forum

DAMN! that's a sketch??? it looks finished to me, aside from textures. How much time do you have in that?
DOF, good lighting, nice softshadows...wow!
I love it!
You Teach softimage? Did I read that correctly?
Man, I love softimage! Do many companies still use it? I'm using maya now, but I still figureing out it's "layered, textures" blaa!
I'm up for any help I can get with maya, or even ole softimage, if you're up to it.
Anyway...
Great model! Can't wait to see it rendered, better yet, animated!

Time for this from scratch is about a day.

Yeah I teach softimage, mostly texturing within it but do some modelling stuff too. Softimage was the first package I used so its still the one I'm most familiar with. There are companies that still use it in production, and I imagine there may be a resurge in the future now that xsi is out, who knows. Yeah if you need any help I'll try and help you out, no prob

Sweet model! What kind of refs do you use?

How complex is that thing? i.e. is it fully funtional or is it just 1 or 2 parts?

Man I can't wait untill I get more power in my system so I can get back into LW...

Hey Failsafe! Nice modelling. I only feel it is toyish. I think this is because it looks squashed and some parts are off. Cockpit and wheels are too big for instance. But then again, as you're saying this is only a 'scetch', I bet you can fine-tune this into a nice P-47D 'Jug'.
Can you post one or two more renders from the side and with a less wide-angle perspective?
Have you got a homepage?, cause I always love to see 3D aircraft!!

Here's my latest aircraft model. I hope you like it.

PS. Its gunners are on active duty, so don't even think about attacking it with that Thunderbolt of yours!

WOW, nice modeling there! Haha, I love Lightwave. It's the best for it's value. And don't you get me started on that one. And just lemme show you guys what I've been up to...

I am still working on it. Lots of weird stuff going on here. My first car model!

Hey Failsafe, could I have your ICQ number? Or Email? Me is really interested in LW 3D, but couldn't find too many LW users. If you could just drop me a line here, that would be great. Thanks.

Wow, I love radiosity lighting. Yummy!

Nice model too! It really looks like a PVC model airplane (geometry wise, not just the radiosity).
