Hello,
This is something I did today. It took a couple of hours (I know, I'm slow). I'm hoping that if I do enough of these portraits, I'll gradually learn a lot about light, faces, and methods of working.
Forgive me for using photo ref, I know some of you guys dislike it very much.
I used the airbrush in PS. Mostly harbrushes. I like the effect they give and the soft brushes end up blurring everything I do.
The resolution you see here is the resolution I worked in:
And the reference pic:

Hey I really like it! IT has a soft look to it.and hey, she looks real childish. A few things that are bothering me is the clavicle area. A little too bright. Also the teeth could use a little seperation. But otherwise, I really like thepicture....especially the hair. Just spend some time refining it and getting all the wobbly edges smoother and so forth and you ahve yourself one nice pic. *drool*
Oh yah.....i guess why it looks so childish is because the face is a little short height wise. Needs a bite more length. |

My best friend is buddies with her younger brother. And she's fucking hotter than sin, too.

G'day Jase. Love the image. Just a couple of things with it though. The first one is the size of her nose. It seems a little bit too small so when you check out the proportions with the rest of here face, the face generally doesn't look as long as what it does in the original photo. The other thing is the colour just seems a little too dirty with the blacks being a little more prominate than in the source photo. This seems to be a really fine line as the photo is a bit 'dirty' in this regard as well. It just doesn't look as bright as what it possibly could for this reason.
I think in general try to work on the colours. I was looking at the nose and the chin and that seemed a bit weird (in terms of how they aligned) but that is the same in the photo. The collarbone to the right of the left strap needs a bit of work to get it to look like that in the photo. I'm sure your aware that the ear on the right needs a little bit of finishing.
Other than that I love how you've done the hair as it looks really good. Keep up the excellent work.

See ya on da flip side

Thanks Eviltoylet, I'm going to refine the image, your input helps.
Abuttle: Holy crap! You've met her? Do you see her very often or have you just met her once?
Hey Matt, Thanks for all the great advice, I'll add your tips on my list to do:
1. Work on colours
2. lengthen face
3. collarbone area needs work
Thanks!

A Josie site! Kickass design, I really love it!
Sure put the pic up
I plan to do more Josie pics, but more refined. This one was more of an exercise, work in progress type thing.
Your site is now in my bookmarks
