I am experimenting with this a bit. This is far from completed as I have only put in an hour on this but I was looking for a little input and pointers before finishing it.

Nice so far. It needs textures and finishing. My only suggestions would be to extend the axe handle to go off the screen. Its a bit short. Also, he just appears to be holding it and standing there. Add some action next time or maybe move the axe to his packpack. |

Hehe.. your getting better and better rob. Well anyway, just some observations that you might take into consideration. His left shoulder pad is a bit off...the perspective on it is funny.... it shouldn't be like that unless he's wearing it wrong. ^_^ Like his fat belly as well. I cant tell whats on the bottom right though.. it looks like...his legs, but then the skirt doesn't cover it. Is he raising his knee or something? I also cannot figure out what the little section beyond the axe end is.
As for the helmet, it looks like it fits REALLY snug...too snug in fact. Add a but of extra space around there in the helmet.
and the axe... looks really light. If you want to stress how heavy it is, just chagne it around and have the head at the bottom.
Also, the thing behind his back....appears to be a shield? If it is, you may consider adding the straps to it .where the dwarf holds it at. Also, the shield could be lowered a bit because it obstructs his head movement.
Anyway.... I really like the picture....great expression on the dwarf and I like the arms. Especially the hairy one on the right. Anyway, keep the pictures coming!

Cool! Just the kind of info I was looking for!
Sa'ge: I agree. That is something I will be doing.
Light: Well I would like to give him an action type of pose but I need to do just a standing pose because it is a race portait. I need to do one each of elves, gnomes and other races also.
EviLToYLeT: Thanks some really good info here. The shoulder pad does look off. I will be changing that. The area below the tunic will be changed as it looks like there is something in front of him.
Good suggestions on the shield and helm too.
I'll be messing around with those.
