This is a rough sketch of the first concept image. The boy is obviously makeing a snow man, this image when all done, will be put in for november next year...it will depicted the start of winter when its cold and you get snow, but then its warm again and snow melts.....Comments, suggestions, Crit all welcome, Thanx

Pretty good sketch....will you be coloring it on the computer? Well my only suggestion is that you should make the boy look down more at the snowman, he looks a little stiff stooping over with is head up like that. (trust me I get that all the time when I draw) but that's just my opinion, maybe he is supposed to be like that. laterz DE$!

this image needs a bit of a rethink before you take it much further.

first of all, its not drawn in perspective. the person's feet are lower than the bottom of the snowman. this makes him look like he's standing out in front of it, instead of right beside it. also, the barn is sitting right on the horizon line. it should be somewhere in front of the horizon line, as the horizon line is the point where things vanish into infinity.

if you need to learn about perspective, do a search for it on the forum here. there have been a lot of great examples and tutorials by people. also, if you do a general websearch, you should find some more good tutorials.

if you have problems with anatomy, or with folding clothing, try to find reference of people standing in a similar position. there are also tons of pictures on the web of winter clothing, that might help. i like to use altavista's image search. just remember, having reference doesn't mean copying a photo pixel for pixel, its a tool that allows you to see how things look in general.

lastly, try to spend more time on a sketch like this. there are a lot of factors involved in figuring out a scene like this, and if you don't take the time in the beginning, they're gonna screw you up in the end.
