Dear Everyone,

I really don't want to sound preachy, but....

One thing i've held back from saying for awhile now, who knows why, is that hostility breeds hostility. These forums are meant as a place of friendly atmosphere, fellowship and a wide variety of words meaning the exact same thing. What more, i feel it sort of as my corner of the net that i open up and let people in. As guests here, all i ask is that you all act civil and courteous with each other. When someone invites you into their home for a gathering, you don't go around bad mouthing someone you don't like, all it does is bring the mood down. I realize that there are some people here that really need a lesson in "How not to be Lame 101", but by telling them to "GET THE HELL OUT", "shut the bleep up" or "get a frikking life" doesn't solve anything...all it does is piss that person off, AND more importantly brings the atmosphere down with it. I think this is something that really needs to be realized. Though you want this place to be free from "lamers" (god i hate that word), by insulting them in the threads doesnt really help any either. Don't get me wrong, i believe the right intention is there, however, it may not be the best approach to solving the problem.

In my other post i said i dont want to be policing this forum,....well, upon further consideration, i dont think thats a bad idea after all....by this i mean, if i do see that someone is being disruptive and not playing nice at all, constantly being rude, and in general not providing anything positive at all by being here...after a warning, that person is out. I think this isn't harsh, and is perfectly fair for the rest of us. SOOO.....IF you feel someone has been playing bad more than a couple times and seems to get off on being an ass, E-MAIL me....believe me, that is a MUCH MUCH better way of seeing that behavior stops than just replying to them saying "You're a loser". I wont see a reply like that, however, i WILL see 10 e-mails complaining about one person.

So,...all i ask is that you all keep this in mind....don't feel it necessary to "get" someone back, or tell someone to get the hell out of here or something like that...because more often than not, the original person who did something stupid, did it to get a reaction and all your doing is playing their game.

Also when you have discussions, there WILL BE people who disagree with you,. Its a fact of life, and there are always people with different views. Don't feel that if you don't retaliate back with something that it means your agreeing with them.

These forums have come a long way since a year ago, there have been some bad times before and it survived because those who cared about this place did something to keep it together, if you still care, please do what you can. For those of you who come here to make trouble, i feel sorry for you.

I will add something like this to the "Forum Guidelines" so everyone who registers sees it, once that page is done.

That being said, welcome to my home, enjoy the snacks, and please don't piss on my carpet.

your host,
-dhab

P.S. lemme throw in a few smilies to end on a happy thought,

I think that puts things in perspective. Dhab invited us into his corner of the internet so treat it with respect.

Sounds cool to me, are you planning on doing anything to slow down the forum? I miss countless good threads because of the sheer amount of stuff being posted here. The unfinished forum is the best idea I've heard, mainly because it really gripes me to see "5% finished, what now?" topics where the persons so eager to get something up here they dont even bother actually trying to finish it.

*opens up Dhabs fridge* I'm gettin a mountain dew, anyone want one?

Well said Dhabih.
The amount of whining and pissed off attitudes has caused me more than a few times to leave the forum. Alot of members here, IMHO, would feel more comfortable at excite chat just by the way the handle themselves. But then again, give a 13 year old a computer and not monitor them, this is what you get. It's all about maturity and there are few here that honestly haven't grown up. If a man can't express his feelings without using profanity, then he has a very limited vocabulary. Those with a very limited vocabulary only appear ignorant and uneducated by the rest of us (not that I didn't curse tons when I was younger). I just hate to see someone putting people down all the time and not actually contributing. Anyway, glad you spoke up here for your site. And I hope everything returns back to quasi-normal.

Way to go, dhabih!

I am glad that you've decided to do something. It was beginning to get tedious and rather boorish (to quote an Englishman) for awhile. Thank you! I can't wait to finally see posts by the more esteemed regulars of this forum again

Sounds good. Too many people are getting upset because of really irrelevant things.

Sacrelicious, you totally ganked my word, dude!

And, Rag, did you know that quasi- is not pronounced Qwah-Zee, but Quay-Zi? I may not contribute anything artistically to the board, but at least I can kick your ass at Trivial Pursuit.

up ya go thread..to the very top...I think more should read this, it's getting burried very quickly

Good Luck Dhabih, i'm sure things will cool down after the first of the year. Untill then, I believe what your suggesting is a great idea. I'll do what I can to help keep the atmosphere up, I still have alot of questions for the pros and I'm sure i can help some other folks out if they need it.

I guess this relates to my post. I did sound like an @$$, and do feel sorry for it, but I was upset when I started it. All I did was post my pic, and peeps were bitching about my sig. They sounded rude, so I posted that one topic cuz I was upset. I guess it's kind of my fault for posting that sig without any explanation, though. That sig wasn't pointing fingers at the peeps in this forum. I just saw some nasty posts in other sites, and decided to make that my sig, cuz I thought the peeps here would understand since these guys(and girls) are better trained for art. Sorry about all the trouble I've caused. I'll think more careful b4 I post something.

Hey Dhabih, I agree with the forum guidelines wholeheartedly, and as bad as it sounds, I think they should be quite strict. Under penalty of being banned, actually...I think maybe a three-strikes rule (regarding pointless flames -- we all know the difference between shit-talking, joking, and ribbing) may be effective...First offense, they get a warning, second offense, they get a warning telling them that on their third offense they will be banned, and on their third offense, they're banned completely... It may sound harsh, but I think it'd probably be damn effective...anyway, that's just my $.02...

Good stuff Dhab, happy to see that you're taking things into your own hands. There's been way too much negativity on here recently and I'm sure it's gonna change for the better.

Hey, you guys finished all the drinks !@

I doubt that anyone will read that stuff being into a hush to register
But I think it shouldn't be much of a problem to follow these simple rules...
