Not that I want to be exactly like Mullins, just wanted to give his style a try. Learn from it, things like that.
I don't have a tablet yet, so this was done with a mouse. Spent, total, 4-5ish hours on it this last week. Prolly would only take Mr. Mullen 1/2 hour I'm sure My computer here at work isn't that great, so it was only 12x8(inch) orginally. I made it 25% smaller than orginal for the forum here.
I'm not sure it tells a story or if it's done already. Think I should add more? Rip it apart! First time painting for Photoshop, though I have made a few textures for Quake 3.
Thanks for any time any of you spend on repling. Thank you, thank you.

Wow.
Perspective's a bit... weird, but..
I reallllly like the style, you have a realllly good grasp of colors and mastery of the mouse.
Is this from reference? if it is.. check the perspective. If it isn't.. how did you come up with those colors??? wow.
nice.
BTW, do you have any other stuff you can show us? (web site, for example?)

Sorry bout that thing about opacity up there.... guess you took it the wrong way. I was just saying that sometimes opacity makes all the colors mudded all together. For example the area around the sun... it doesnt look like its quite finished. Well, if that's a sun.... the sky should be a more yellowish color. And, if that's a fire, there shouldn't be THAT much smoke ....because the smoke disappates and blends with the sky. Again, sorry for discouraging ya in the first post. opacity isn't cheating.... it's great to use ... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Paqmann- I didn't have a picture reference. Just kind of popped into my head. Thats prolly whey the perspectives are messed up where you see them. I was just using the regular paint pallet in Photoshop. But, as you can prolly see I used opacity alot.
I don't have a web site I have a couple sketchs posted some time ago. But nothing near a "completed stage". I just have a mouse on dis computer at Work, and I don't have a computer at home.
Thanks for Dig'n on it Haven't felt good about my art for a while. Try'n to learn from this forum.
EviLToYLeT- Thanks for the backup. Last thing I wana look like is a cheater. So' I'm gona try and learn with out Opacity more. Thanks for the info. I'm guess'n Mullins doesn't use Opacity.
Is sopuse to be a sun... I see what your saying though, thanks.

Well, just got more things to say. Hehe... well, i think you need to look at the clouds a bit more... never seen clouds so big. and im not trying to discourage ya from using opacity. it just really depends on the style of you rpaintings. Frankly, I think your best bet would be just to experiment around though, but many find the opacity setting easier to use to block in colors. (also, some traditional artists.... for example oilpainters...dont really have much "opacity" to use) |

Looks like Tokyo 3 from Evangelion. Very much like it actually. Not trying to start a flame war, but did it just "pop" into your head?
Otherwise, a nice pic. I enjoy the painterly look, but perspective is definately odd. @:-) |

Ehhh..why shouldnt you use Opacity??
I believe that you should use any tool availble to finish your work the way you want it.
You can still block in colors with it, if you have it on 100%.

jHof nice picture, good mood. I would say for the time being your greatest weakness might be a thin skin. That first comment about your work was a compliment followed by a suggestion, that's about as much as you can hope for. Mullins man himself get's comments like that often. Take a look at some of the crits around this board and mentally prepare yourself for a few bad knocks from time to time. I just pray your never encounter [Shizo], even when he is in a good mood one must take him with a grain of salt, which is awesome since it's good practice for when someone comes up and REALLY trashes your work. Work trashing comments are akin to random shootings in my opinion, just bad stuff that happens that does not good at the end of the day.
The reason I'm wasting your time with this is because you appear to have talent and I fear you might disappear suddenly if you took a bad enough knock from someone. The other down side of being touchy is everyone gets to know that about you and then are afraid to REALLY give you constructive crit on your work. This does not help you my friend.
Post up lots of your work and become a artistic snapping turtle. One equiped with good defense against crit and the ability to eat good suggestions quickly. (what the hell am I saying???)

Oh boy.. I feel like im in deep shit. Heh, I'm not suggesting that you don't use opacity, but you should learn not to.. (you should learn how to as well). Because sometimes, life doesn't throw you an opacity setting. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

-Paqmann I must say, it's really not my style. I don't know what my style is yet. I would think it's heavly inspired by Mullins work. Give credit to him if anything.
-Brain Not that you have any reason to belive me, but I haven't even heard of what you mentioned. It's not an impossible image to think up, nothing special. I figured someone would be able to referance it to something else sooner or later. I've seen Akira, I'm not to much into the Anima/manga sceen. Thanks for the comments.
-Tiger Eaten Aye, I've been around the board learn'n a while. I know who to watch for. I'm greatful for any harsh comments on my atempts at art. How ever I don't want to come across as a cheater, and I felt threatened that opacity might be a way of cheating in the "digital art ways". So I'd rather not post anything at all if it was considered cheating. I'm more of a force myself to learn the right way type of person. But sometimes I don't know what the right way is. I really have no art direction in my life right now, sept this forum. I've been reading a Van Gogh book and a couple anatomy books. And just trying to remember what I was shown by my art teacher in HS.
-EviLToYLeT Na, don't sweat none. I understand what your saying though. I really wana try real painting before I dive into Digital painting. I just had an itchn to try out some Digi-art on a bigger scale than 512x512.
Thanks again for all your comments. My clouds pretty funked up. Is that the perspective funkyness everyone spoke of? Did that come from the clouds? No one really got specific on what perspective was messed up. I'm gona look over it some more.
Yoink!

Thought I'd play with your city a little jHof. I love the light in your picture so much. I ended up with this, yours has more of a lonely feel that I think "makes" the pic, which I lost. Oh well, story of my life. Hope you don't mind?

-Tiger Eaten] Thanks for the redo. Funky paint work, oddly I love it. I think you know your lighting a bunch better than me is what I bet. I was wanting a further out look when I did the image from start. So yours has that more closer, alive look I think. Not so lonely, but no biggie, I dig what you done.
Mullins said he wasn't going to be around for about 3 weeks. I'm guessing vacation. It's been about 2 weeks I think since he posted that.
Again, thanks for your redo and comments.
