Hey does anyone know about any really good books that teach formal perspective? I can do perspective drawings from life by using the sighting technique but I still want to know a system for inventing perspective scenes. Oh yeah a word of advice for the beginning drawer buy a few good anatomy books and learn proportions and structure thats the hard part, rendering is second. And get away from your friggin computers and go out and draw real people try to notice the constants in anatomy. Take some classes to there is nothing like a great art teacher to spark your hidden talent.

Perspective Drawing - A Step by Step Handbook, Michael E. Helms.

Design Drawing, Francis D.K. Ching. Not specifically a perspective book, but it has a great section on constructed perspective as well as so much other useful info that I have to recommend it at every opportunity.

We have a drawing teacher that comes here to black isle and does lectures.

His name is Marshall VanDruff

If you go to his site www.marshallart.com you can find a video he has on perspective. He teaches us inventive composition and perspective as well as anatomy. His personal work is cartoon style but his teaching is top notch.

he has a video that is a must have...on perspective.

if you email him at his website ....tell him I sent you over to him ...and see if he has any videos left.
