Hey folks,
Just thought I would let you know the theme for December's Artist of Depth competition. I had many great suggestions from the members here but I decided to go with one of my own at the last minute. So without further ado (and a little late too!) Here is December's AOD theme:
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS:
In a time of year when most people are thinking about being good I thought it would be nice to take a look at the darker side of life. In case your religion or beliefs do not reference the seven deadly sins I will list them each here with a short description.
1: PRIDE - is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.
2: ENVY - is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.
3: GLUTTONY - is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
4: LUST - is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.
5: WRATH - is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury.
6: GREED - is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.
7: SLOTH - is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.
Let me know what ya think :-)

Rinaldo,
Great question! I have been struggling with this ever since the competitions began in October. Here is my proposed solution:
I am going to add a new section to the judging criteria which will have ten points devoted to how on target the author is within the current theme.
One problem with this is that alot of the themes are very broad and the judge might not see what the artist is trying to say. To remedy this I have added a section in the gallery of entries which allows the artist to explain to the visitors as well as the judges how their piece of artwork fits within the current theme. This has really helped with November's competition.
Hope this somewhat answers your question and if it doesn't please let me know :-)
