Screen mode is a blending type that is available on either the brush or the layer itself. The other common ones are:
normal, dissolve, multiply, screen, overlay, hard light, soft light, exclusion, difference, hue, saturation, color etc.
they affect the pixels either on the layer, or in the brush you are about to use

Screen mode is the fourth option in the layer's blending modes, if it's not 'pantalla' in the spanish version i don't know how it's called. Just look at the english names Matt Elder has written and find the spanish equivalent, they should be in the same order.
Anyway, I've sent you an e-mail with an example.
